Everyone knows you need two ratchet straps, one on either side, to keep the ladder from wobbling.

 

Plus you need to tie down those buckets.

I wish I had this setup on the trunk of my car, so when the a-hole driver behind me has his hi beams on, I could encourage him to switch to low beam.
