I guess I dodged a bullet . A friend talked me into coming to ABQ to do cable sales . Then an install crew showed up and I joined them instead . Just as we were about to sign a contract for a condo for housing, we were informed that the installation contract fell through . Ended up following that crew to Palm Springs .
Hotel: Parq Central or Andaluz Food: Focus on Knob Hill Airport: easy to get through The rest: the type of hole you mentioned I live in Los Lunas one week per month since last June. Cant wait for that contract to end.
Albuquerque is the land of enchantment. All you have to do is go to the Pit, face East , kneel and say Lorenzo Charles 3 times and a miracle will happen. Go Pack.
There's the Nuclear Museum on the air base. Pretty interesting stuff about the development of the A- and H- bombs. https://www.nuclearmuseum.org/
Lived in Albuquerque from '80-'93, still get back a few times a year to see family. It's gone downhill some, but I still like it. Not so much for the city proper, but for the surrounding area. By which I mean most of north-central NM. Lots of great hiking and fishing, and some killer motorcycle roads. If you're there for a few days and are stuck in town you probably won't think much of it. Some recommendations: Marble brewery if you like beer. (north side of downtown) Get breakfast at the Frontier, right across the street from Popejoy. Order the Huevos Rancheros, eggs over medium with the chopped green chile. And a cinnamon roll. You can thank me later. The Knob Hill district (mile east of Popejoy) has some good bars and restaurants. Michael Thomas is a good coffee house. If you have a down day and want to go hiking there are trails that come down right to the eastern edge of the city and go up to the Sandia's ridgeline. Or take the tram up, that's a cool ride. Or drive up the Crest road around the back side to the top.
