Just seems like it reduces the risk of something dumb happening in an environment where folks are in close quarters and often distracted. I'm fully aware that I am weird.

 

I don't know. I don't change my behavior if I am getting gas in the middle of Gwinnett county or out in the sticks of White country. Gwinnett being pretty damn busy and White county being essentially Mayberry.

 

What issue am I missing with parallel parking that would cause you to prefer turning your car 180° from the direction you will resume driving after filling up?

In these here parts, you'd be waitin' a mighty long time. These bastards pull up to the last pump so that everyone else has to back in, then they go inside and get subs made to order for their all their offspring, mix up some sugary coffee drink, get a pack of smoky treats, and use the restroom while simultaneously taking two calls on the cell phone, trying to pay with on overdrawn debit card, before they even come out and pump their goddamn gas.

 

And buy a bunch of lottery tickets, don't forget that.
