Good lord, that sucks. I went thru something similar with Boston Chicken years ago. Lost something like 98-99%. That's a bad feeling.
Beats having a stock delisted. I experienced that once, a couple of years ago. That is not a good feeling.
@motion are you holding any Crypto? I need to know as I may buy a little, for the massive upside potential. Have to do my research, which for now entirely consists of not buying anything your holding. Thanks,
That was technically the case for a while. But the shares no longer exist. Me and Lawn Dart bought some after a brainstorming session that had led us to conclude that we were going to look really smart from that shit bounced back. We should have gotten the third opinion. It kept going down.
And/or not day trading penny stocks out of boredom But, it was a relatively cheap lesson and has probably paid for itself dozens of times by me not losing money (relative to the broader market) in individual stocks. I only buy indexes and ETFs now - if you can diversify away idiosyncratic risk, you're an idiot if you don't (IMHO).
I've got a couple -90% losers, but only gambled a couple hundred on each. My biggest fail $$ wise is JMIA... over 9 separate buys (catching that falling sword ya know) my $15xx is worth $425. Lots of other smaller losers, but I still have yet to actually sell anything for a loss and the total portfolio is still in the green. I've mentioned it before, but for the record this is a play/learning account separate from my retirement funds. The 401K and IRA are all in ETF's and blue chips.
Damn... and I'm pissed because the worst performer in my self directed IRA is sitting at a dividend adjusted gain of 2.13%. </humblebrag>
It can always be worse.... Crypto Platform Wormhole Loses $325 Million in Apparent Hack (gizmodo.com)
