What are the odds? Probably like being hit by lightning while also attacked by a shark type odds. There is always some idiot that finds a way to make what seems impossible happen.
The camera bike is a gixxer 600 with a +2 mm motor without Carillo rods while everyone else is bombing by on the GP17 Ducati.
I took one of those orange pylon cones to the face at about 100 mph once. Coming onto the front straight at NJMP coming up behind someone who drifted wide and ran off into the dirt and kicked the cone up at me. Fortunately it bounced off the front cowl cracking a nice chunk out of my windscreen before clocking me in the face. Amazed by helmet shield held intact and I wasn't knocked off the bike.
The rider looks incredibly lucky to have left the bike before it hit that wall. Thankfully he's okay.
So for those of us in the dark, can we get a narrative of what happened? Clearly we see the dude performing a "reverse rollie".
Bellypan fell off of the bike in front and was kicked up into the face of the rider behind. It smashed through his face shield and knocked him unconscious at about 140mph.
Was behind at guy on the back straight at COTA when I smelled burning fiberglass. One side of the Djus fasteners came off and was dragging the bellypan. After seeing this, man I (and the rest of the train I was with) were VERY lucky.
