I am so tired of lawyers.

I have a jack ass contractor that owes me a small chunk of change.
I have hired a lawyer to file a lawsuit for breach of contract.
So far he has charged me just shy of 3k to read emails and review my contract.

I am considering using a collection agency to collect on this. At least it is a set fee and not a charge for every freekin email.

    So.. who do you use.

Remember, this is breach of contract, not a bounced check

Dude I really feel for you, I was right there a few years ago. You've really had a bad run.

No advice on the collection agency, but I will tell you this: a good lawyer, while painful up front pays dividends in the end. Ask me how I know? I went opposite route....

I have went and taken fences down when they don't pay. Usually speeds up the payment process when you show up with a crew to start removal. If that don't work , at least you get your materials back and some satisfaction . :)

My collection agency is in prison. One of his last debtors (not to me) was found in a dumpster with a bag over his head and a crushed face.

My wife and I use a collection agency a lot in our real estate business. I'm not sure it is directly applicable to your situation but the contract between you and the debtor is VERY important with regard to their ability to collect. I would suggest calling a collection agency and talking to them. We work with a local company and they are pleasant and helpful. There are no guarantees on getting your money but we have had some good success.

I have done that before, but not applicable in this case.

    Middle man problem. ..

I built an exhibit for a local zoo, General contractor was an out of state company, I am a sub.

I have placed a lein on the zoo, but that is not going anywhere.

I can't let the bears out, or can I?

    Hmmmm

I had an account with Vengroff-Williams, needed to use their service several times. They always came through for me at a reasonable percentage : http://www.vwinc.com/
