I need names and address, please. I want to make sure that all of our WERA Soldiers get something for Christmas. It might not be much, but I really want to say "Thank You" and show my appreciation for all of them.

Also, if any of the troops have any special requests (sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, sunscreen, girlie calendars, whatever type of calendars you female soldiers look at), please post that, too.

Everybody else, please keep the jokes to a minimum.

    Thank You.

    Darrin,

First off let me thank you for all the thoughts and prayers you and our fellow racers on the BBS send out to the troops overseas. I'm actually leaving the day after Thanksgiving for the desert for 6 months and I know it's always great to hear from the mainland and civilization in general. If anyone gets a chance to drop a line my address will be:

    AMC Smitty Tocorzic
    Combat Aircrew 2
    VP-47 Unit 25454
    PSC 451
    FPO AE 09834-2800

Thanks again for everything and I hope all of you have a great holiday season.

    Darrin:

As always, you rock! Your support of the troops is awesome. While I won't be a WERA racer until my return to the states, the thought is very much appreciated. Save it for Hendo and TiggerDuc and the others who are really in harms way, Rota, Spain ain't exactly arduous duty!

Thanks again for all you do

A simple 'Yes' would have sufficed.

I know, but I hadn't realized that I had her address until I used that Search feature :D .

I really want to post the addresses in this thread, hoping other people will also drop them a card or something.

    BUMP!

Wanted to bump this back up. My brother-in-law was overseas, and was one of the fortunate ones who was there 10 months and got sent home before they deemed everyone over there to fill their entire order.

He said that things like care packages, notes, letters, and stuff like that really kept them going when they were down. He said holidays are the hardest, so, as I told Darrin, I'll help in any way that I can.

Depending on where the troops are, they may or may not be able to receive packages...sometimes they hold them until they get to somewhere they are allowed to have them, so if any of you guys/gals posting your addresses know of any restrictions, tell us that too.

As far as suggestions go for what to send, anything is welcome when you're in a place most people are trying to leave. But, a couple things come to mind.

1)Moto mags. Any and all, no matter even if they are a month or two old.( I bought every motorcycle mag in Barnes and Nobles while I was in Jacksonville last month, $50.00 worth!)
2)If you send food, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in a tin (cookies and such). Nothing perishable. On the ship or in the desert the wife's cookies always went over well, even when it was just a bag full of crumbs! Pringles, combos, munchies that will make the trip. I always wanted lots of gum as it was usually hard to come by no matter where in the world I was.
3)NO PORN! Quick way to get in hot water; imigination is a good thing!
4)Toiletries. Toothpaste, deoderant, etc. The little travel sizes in that one section of WalMart.
5)If it is going to someone you actually know, long personal letters. Even the most mundane thing to you is news to us. The longer the better. Remember when it takes you 45 minutes to write it will take us 5 to read it, but we'll read it over and over.
6)If you know they're a smoker, good ole american smokes. Not the same overseas, I always referred to them as a headache in a stick. Even if they don't smoke throw in a pack or two, someone they know will smoke!

Anything sent will be most appreciated by those who get it, wether it's a card or a 15lb. package. I always enjoyed the "any soldier" cards from people I never met.

If you send a package send it US Mail Priority or it will take forever, and remember that FPO's and APO's don't accept UPS.

    Hope this helps

    Tim

hey guys saw the thread and i just had to respond. here is the update that i have for mals-42 from atlanta right now we have a group in Afganistan a small group in camp pendleton which i'm a part of and a large group that are sitting waiting on orders to go somewhere in Atlanta. I'm not really sure what is going to happen with me because i'm the most qualified in my job speciality/MOS in the squadron. There are rumors that we are going to be rotated into iraq and afganistan for next year but as of now i'm supposed to come back to Atlanta and serve out the remainder of my mobilization time there till Feb. But as i said i really don't know what is going to happen. I've actually gotten a lot of stuff from you guys back home when i was in iraq and i thank you for it it was well appreciated (even the playboy mags) and i'm coming home for a short visit( a week wow long visit:rolleyes: ) on the 3rd of dec throughthe 10th of dec, so i'm going to celebrate christmas then with my family since it is going to be my only chance to do so and see my friends too. Well i am going to go now and have thanksgiving in the chow hall now so i'll talk to you later guys and gals.

    This is a GREAT!!!

After spending 2 years over seas in the Navy I know the value of care packages!!! Its one of the best things to get.

Cookies were always a hit because you become very popular when you get them and it does a great job of raising your spirits.

Anything you can get at your local 7-eleven store, like chips, gum, any type of candy, mints, etc... is something that is highly missed. You dont miss this stuff until you are thousands of miles away from any type of life that everyone is a custom to here in the states.

The more we can send the better because who ever gets it will always know someone who doesnt get any.

Thanks Darrin for posting this and the addresses,
    Tyson
