Oddly enough, the local DMV's in my state were privatized by a Republican governor several years ago. Initially everyone said it was a cash grab and a favor to his friends, but fast forward to today, and they're running like clockwork. Wait times are down, processes are streamlined, the offices are cleaner, the people are friendlier, and everybody loves it. Hmmmmmmmmmmm?
Whats dumb about this whole article is the premise that once you're on a healthcare plan with a 'big', you're stuck for a year or more. If you get a letter saying 'renew early, renew now!' you probably are buying insurance yourself. That means you can cancel or change plans at any time, you are not beholden to open enrollment.
Not at all, until they decide that there's no sense in letting such a dangerous activity take place, resulting in injuries that society is forced to pay for. It may take a while, but that day will come.
Seeing more than a few paying less and some getting refunds for over charges. and some over the tax break paying 15-20% more. Most small business(low paying wage that most employees are within 400% of the poverty line) are manipulating it to drive the cost for employer coverage by offering the minimum at a premium to their employees because they know they will qualify for a tax credit. Pushing them into the free market and not paying the employer penalties for not offering anything. My sister for example got the letter saying the cost was the same but the benefits are reduced etc.. Most of the employees there would be within the tax credit to look in the market place however, she is not and forced to stay with employer policies. Is that logic correct? Probably not...And those that can't get the credit will have to suck it up for a few years waiting(hoping) for the flood of free market to lower costs over all? Curious to see what people are doing that do not qualify for any premium tax credit.
So Harry, Nancy and Barry are all saying that the Republicans are unwilling to negotiate. Where was all the compromise and bipartisanship when they rammed the ACA into law without as much as a single Republican vote? These idiots need to go. What they are having a tantrum about is the normal system of checks and balances. There was no balance when the ACA was passed. The House controls the purse strings. The House says there is no funding for this massive piece of legislation. What is so hard to understand about that? What we are seeing now with the shutdown is that life goes on in spite of all these non-essential bureaucracies being shut down. Many people will realize that some of these gov't programs are in fact unnecessary, so why fund them at all? Others will just wait for the next episode of Jerry Springer and go to the corner store for some hot wings and a cold 40 bought with their EBT card.
1. The Affordable Care Act is important enough to the Republicans that they are willing to shut down the government in order to slow or stop implementation, or revise the act. 2. The Affordable Care Act is important enough to the Democratss that they are willing to shut down the government in order to implement at all costs. 3. We the people are missing the fact that no one seems to be questioning whether or not the programs that are not currently funded are critical. Essentially, it appears everyone has accepted that non-essential services are essential.
Many essential ones are not. If we could shake off the parasites you could shrink government overnight and balance the budget. To bad there is not a pill for that like worms in a dog.
In case anyone has any doubts or questions on Obamacare, there's a 1-800 number you can call. http://dailycaller.com/2013/10/03/n...-fuckyo-to-reach-obamacares-national-hotline/
