My first thought was "how in the hell have I not heard of these guys?!" Then I learned that they were formed in '93, way past my time. F@¢£! I'm almost old.
As far as recent stuff goes, here's what I like : Recently, I've been keen to Japandroids. Very catchy guitar riffs and vocals The latest "The Men" album "Open your Heart" is pretty cool too.
Hadnt seen anyone mention The Gorilla Biscuits. Check out The Stumble Bums Brass band - cool differnt take on punk -Corosion of Conformity is always on my Ipod list as is Fugazi and while not punk, try out some Tomahawk . I d also reccomend some good Ska - Fishbone, Mustard Plug , The Pie Tasters, The Toasters ,Hepcat and the Supervillians.
Alright you crusty old bastards... Since we're all on the nostalgia bus, check out Morris's new band, OFF!, and Redd Kross is back out with one of the best albums of the year, Researching the Blues. I love seeing these old timers still being able to crush all the kiddies.
Been listening to a lot of Strung Out the last few days. A band that hessians, aging punks and rock and rollers will like.
Great show on the Documentary channel last night about the late 70's/early 80's hardcore scene in Chicago. Great interviews with AOF, Effigies, Naked Raygun, Rights of the Accused, etc.
Been listening to a lot of Motörhead also as of late. Not punk, not metal and definitely not sugary coated pop crap. It's Motörhead and it kicks you grand mothers ass!
Sorry it's not Tom Jones, Carlton. Shouldn't you be watching steel magnolias or the estrogen network and stroking your tofu?
