I had a compute build just for this.
My tv sucked, so I bought an Acer 27" monitor a couple of weeks ago
during the tax free weekend. I wish I would have bought 3 of them.
They were $268 now $320. Walmart still has them for around $280 plus tax.
New Egg is pretty much the same after shipping.
Since I've got most things sorted, I have not turned my PS3 on.
    No comparison to GT5.
Only problem I'm having now, is dealing with idiots who can't drive
taking me out of the race.
If you don't care about racing others, you can buy all the tracks and cars,
    and just do laps.

Gary...unless you are just on a mission to get a class A license I wouldn't worry too much about the official races. I'm still a class D license. I only race in hosted private leagues. Much better racing to be had.

If you are going to go for the A license here's a tip. You don't get rewarded for racing through the feild and winning unless you can do it completely clean. Running off track, bumps and nudges with other cars all cost you SR points. You only need to be above 3.0 to advance to the next license if you want to wait until the end of the month. If you can get to 4.0 on your SR you are promoted instantly. If you want to get to A quickly just run around at the back while staying on track and not touching any other cars.

I saw one guy online that had fans hooked to the speed of his in game car to blow wind on him,Thats just insane. I have a 50inch plasma I use now just for ps3. So really all I need to get in a tower and wheel and maybe som driveing lessons!

Yup, found out about losing points :D
    I've been doing 5 TT's a day. I'm @ 3.0 Road 2.68 Oval.
I just want to be able to to TT's with other cars besides the friggin Mazda and Cadi. Don't know what the deal is, but I can't see shit out of that car.
Mid Ohio is next to impossible with the Cadi.

You don't have to set fast laps in the TIme trial you just have to string 8 of them together with no off track excursions.

Go lighter on the brake pedal than you think in the caddy. It's a good car it just need a little tweaking in the setup to be really good.

Have you started working with the Atlas Telemetry app yet?

I run 8 laps @ 80% then the last two I push as hard as I can just to see what times I can do. My best @ Lime Rock is 1.01, the top guys are doing .59's
Problem with the Caddy, is I can't see. When I go over elevation changes, I'm blind. It's the only car I have that problem.
I know nothing about the telemetry .
    I'll look into it.

Hold down the shift key and use the bracket keys to raise and lower your position in the car.

i know on the first page someone put a link to a gaming pc from egg head that would do the job. Was the tower listed a unit that would get the job done or was it a unit that is middle of the line that will do the job gd enough for the normal people to never notice? What are the min requirements needed in a tower to run the system and what would the requirements be in a tower to not be a TOP of the line fancy unit but still do a gd job? Sorry for the noob questions like I said before computers it a whole differnt world to me..... But id really like to get to get a set up going to run this. Thanks Dave

Apple/Mac Computers (MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Pro) will work with iRacing provided they meet the above hardware requirements and have a valid version of Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 installed using Appleā€™s Boot Camp utility. For more information on installing windows on an Apple Computer, please see your MAC user guide or this FAQ. Note: MAC OS X does not support the iRacing.com Simulator.

Here is what It says on the website. Dont know If this helps at all.

You can but only if you want to run Windows on it either via bootcamp or as the main OS.

I didn't know that many people from here are on iracing. That's cool. I'm up there about every night lol. I like your setup you got there Venom. Are those monitors or tv's? I want to upgrade to a triple monitor setup sometime in the near future myself. How are you liking the clubsport wheel? I have a CSR elite now, but going to get the clubsport with both wheel rims.

    Those are 27" Viewsonics.

The Clubsport is absolutely awesome. Once you figure out it's saturation point and find the correct FFB level in iRacing it is simpy the best wheel I owned to date. I never went crazy with my G25 and modified it with any sort of SLI plate or anything so having the surplus of button on the CSW is realy nice. I'm still running my modded G25 pedals at the moment but I'm considering building a set of CST's in near future.

Sorry for the same dumb question. What are the requirements a tower would need in order to run iracing? What components are more important then the others. For example is there one component that I should really spend the big money on cause it would have a huge affect and another that I could save some money on and just get the min requirement to run the system. Reason Im asking is my mom works in the technology department for a large school district and has access to alot of used towers and computers pieces. So what im looking to do is let her know the requirements of a tower that I would need and see if she has anything I could use. Even if she doesnt have a whole unit I could possibly peice one together with differnt components she has available. An she has access to huge discounts on computer parts thru contracts the school has with suppliers. If needed and a tower if found and a part needs to be upgraded or a tower needs to be built i can do so. Just need to know what i should be looking for. Thanks for all the info an sorry for being a pain lol

The tower I spec'd ealier would do just about everything you want right up to going to a triple screen setup. You would need to replace the graphics card in that system with either the top end of the AMD or Nvidia range that can run 3 screen on a single card or use and SLI or Eyefinity setup with multiple cards.

Graphics cards, Processing power and memory are the key items. I doubt anything the school system is buying will fit the bill.

    Do some reading.

Venom is probley going to coming in this thread with all of these newbie questions. What do you look for to know that a video card will run three screens? The one you posted from newegg will or will not run three screens? Sorry to be such an dumbass but the pc world was always confussing to me. As long as I could find bike parts and porn on the internet I was a happy guy.

    Thanks for the help Venom
