WTF? It's a trifecta. http://www.southfloridaracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53317&page=1&pp=15 http://www.zrxoa.org/forums/showthread.php?t=46268
curious, do chains actually need to be lubed? I have never lubed a chain because they are sealed. Plus, having only race bikes I change the chains at twice per season.
That's terrible man! Ouch. I've done the same thing but I did not have the bike in gear, it only snagged the index finger, and I was able to stop the wheel with the other hand and roll it back. A sprocket tooth punched through nail and tip but missed the bone and nothing came off. Again, OUCH!
didnt see the pics but Im missing part of my thumb from a hungry chain/sprocket combo. felt great having an er nurse scrubbing the shit out of a nerve end peppered with chain lube/grit with no local!
It was nasty and he was cleaning it not lubing it. I do wonder though.... since he has a picture of both hands it would seem someone was there..... did it all start with "hey y'all watch this"? Also Venom it would fix something.... no chance of little Venoms
My dad is missing the end of the middle finger on his right hand. Same way...claims a girl in a mini-skirt walked up to him and asked for directions. Santa Cruz in the 60's....
Yes, they really do need to be lubed if you want them to last. The seals are between the side plates of the chain, and they trap grease around the link pins. The rollers are what actually touch the sprocket and they have no seals. The rollers are what you are actually lubricating. Very little "chain lube" gets past the seals, if any. Assuming the seals are doing their job.
Man, threads like these serves as a good reminder in 'things not to do'. lol! Sorry to hear about your mishap! Becareful with mowers and sno-blowers too ppl!!! Kinda reminds me of when I cut thru the tip of my thumb with a chop saw and put a nail thru my middle finger with a pneumatic nailer, it punched through the 2x4 and into my finger that was holding it still. Ouch. One thing no man could ever say, that I didnt pour sweat, tears and blood into renovating my home.
:up:actually laughed out loud when I read this. Felt like telling my dad the same thing when he told me about his story of it (just a tip, literally), way back when.
