I guess 22 is better than 19 is the answer. Skip made it and didn't have mail in box tops. Narbonne I can understand at missing the cut off by .01 and some but others at +1 second should be packing up for the weekend.
When they show the highlights in two weeks, the audience will get to see Mladin pass a multitude of riders to take the lead in a tough fought battle for the win.
Friday qualifying sets the top ten for Superpole which then sets the top ten on the grid. Final qualifying on Saturday sets 11th thru last position on the grid.
I was with some complete motorcycle race newbs today watching Superpole. Meaning these people (2 adult women, 2 adult men, 7 kids between 13 and 16) and they all thought Superpole was "awesome" "exciting" "really cool" "suspenseful". We were watching from the Tower and all they could see was T12-T1, the riders on Hot Pit, and Live Timing on the TV. I'm not making this up, just passing along some feedback from some folks that have never ever seen a motorcycle race. *shrug*
They weren't my friends, they were guests. Considering the weather (wet early, chilly, windy) and the fact it's Friday (always pretty dead) we didn't think the turnout was too bad today. Didn't seem much different than Fontana, the heart of motorcycling in the Southwest on Friday two weeks ago. The fan party at Cycle Nation this evening had a steady crowd as well with nice lineup of bikes and riders. Saw Hayes, Bostrom, Long, Mladin, Yates, May, Young, Schwantz, Barney, and Eslick signing autographs for 45 minutes - 60 minutes and a number of racebikes on display. Fun stuff.
I really like watching the WSB Superpole. My favorite thing about it is IT'S ON TV! I watch it before the races occur so it's still relevant. Crazy stuff!
