Seeing an opportunity to take advantage of a political majority the new attempt to disarm America begins again.... Have a look, this bill seems to want to include every type of firearm on the market. Ken http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h110-6257
On the face of it I'm against these types of bills. When I'm hurting another person w/ a gun (w/o just cause) then take my rights away, not before that. Existing laws already make available a means by which the People may punish bad guys.
Can someone give me the Cliff Notes. I started reading and it seems it just continues the "Assault Rifle" ban which started years ago. What am I missing?
So this is the reauthorization of the original law which ran from 1994-2004 and still carries the 10 year limit this time around. There are no changes to the original law that I can see. Did I get that much right?
I believe that's correct. Having a public school education I begin to drool after a paragraph or two of the legalese so I can't say for 100% certainty that it's identical.
I think it's downright criminal that my god-given right to shoot squirrels and beer cans with my 60 round mag AK is coming into question.
Seriously though, the ban didn't really affect me the first time around and probably didn't have much affect on most. Made my gun worth a few more dollars but when the law expired I didn't rush out and buy more high capacity magazines. The law was useless but it also didn't seem to harm to many people. I'm pretty sure most people were able to carry on their lives without too many disruptions.
I picked up a M&P15T a few years back. More on a whim than anything. Maybe it'll fetch a few more bucks since I don't really have a use / need for it. I think AK's and their clones / derivatives should be banned just for aesthetic reasons. Those things are ugly.
