Our last race weekend of the year was marred by the death of one of our Novice racers in race 4 on Saturday. Steve Almeida was killed almost instantly in a bad start line crash when he bobbled his start and was knocked down and then struck by several racers behind him. One other racer was also injured in the crash, although not seriously. I was very proud of all our cornerworkers who had to deal with a very difficult recovery and cleanup, I know some had a tough time later that evening, as did the medical crew. Thankfully, events like this are rare.
Sad news, indeed. Thoughts and best wishes for all the family, friends and corner workers. They are tough times....but keep yer heads up and try to stay positive.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, all the riders involved, corner workers, and everyone else touched by this loss...
Right now my thoughts are with his friends, family and also the cornerworkers and officials who dealt with this. Roadracing is the most exhilarating sport I know of, but it can also be very brutal and unforgiving.
This is not the time or place for that conversation. If you'd like to start another thread then do so.
WERA was lucky this didn't happen to Pete at BMP. Prayers to family and friends along with racers and workers affected.
Call me crazy, but I'd say PETE was lucky it didn't happen to Pete. My thoughts go out to that riders family.
