Holy FUCK are hotels expensive in that area. I'm doing some digging, see $385 for the date range I want and think, damn, that's good for 5 nights... yeah, wrong, try $385 A NIGHT.
385 a night is not crazy from what I remember. And those bring my Ohio/Indiana Gl1800 trike riders that trailer their 3 wheelers south will pay that if it includes a all you can eat bfast.
Ok, home base secured... and I may be going solo so... any other teams up for helping a stupid hooligan make through the weekend? I'm more than willing to do what I can to assist as well.
Remember, its Bike Week and Daytona Beach is THE place (for the bagger crowd). You can get more away from the ocean in Sanford or closer to Orlando cheaper.
I should know, but am old. Can any shmo bring an RV trailer into the infield for the week? For whatever that might cost?

Not camping this year, so I didn't go down the rabbit hole looking at the options, myself. @pjdoran, I'll be curious to read what you find available, and ultimately choose, if you don't mind sharing to later on.
What is left are the overflow camping spots down the center parking area between the preminum sites. They are ok spots on the black top. A bit tight like all of them are. You'll have to buy 2 general admission 4 day tickets along with the camping at a total cost of just under $350.
Exactly what my investigation found as well. Seems totally reasonable, price wise , to me. Quick math on fuel spend from Iowa made it apparent a local rental of an rv is a better option than towing my airstream that far. Also, F!!! $400 and up flea bag motels. RV rental is reasonably priced as well.
