This guy does a great job going over this if you can find the time for the whole thing. Its a great reminder why we shouldn't let go of things without our hands being quite dead and cold.
My wife ran with a crew at Garland High School in which a fellow named Vernon Howell was a peripheral player. He was just that odd, utterly uncharismatic loner dude who preferred to be alone, spent most lunch recesses out under a tree with his guitar. He later found out that he was God incarnate and changed his name to David Koresh. When this was going on, and she heard the guy's name on the radio, she damn near crashed her car.
