I understand that, but it's still a Honda and it can win with another Rider. All of this talk that no one else can ride the bike is blah. For the 2020 bike there were about 15 laps where Marc decimated the field, the 2020 bikes can look to that for ideas.
Valentino Rossi has joked establishing his VR46 Academy may not have been a good idea, after Franco Morbidelli and Francesco Bagnaia beat him in the MotoGP https://www.autosport.com/motogp/news/152127/rossi-jokes-vr46-academy-not-a-good-idea-postmisano
That is the real outlier to me that just makes me shake my head in disbelief. I would say the 2020 bike is a real screw up by Honda; but the few laps we saw Marc ride it in anger it was almost embarrassing how much faster he was - until it tried to kill him .... a second time. It seems like that is exactly what Marc asked for .... If he comes back healthy, he will win - of that I have no doubt
and / or he will have more crashes, because maybe they made the bike even a bit too knife edged for him this time around.
they all say it's the Michelins. not really predictable and works better for some chassis or riding styles... Dovi said he's still adapting to them, Bagnaia comes off a fresh sheet and well, MM crashed on them...
more or less yes - HRC has been very HRCish about it apparently - telling the other riders "figure it out Marc can do it" or at least that has been some of the chatter from journos.
Vale/team need to figure out how to make the rear tire last. He faded the last three laps, and badly on the last one (after damn near crashing in T2).
I say worst. Marquez could win just the same on any of the bikes that other riders could use to bring variable manufacturer points to their team. Ducati can't afford to be picky about the way they win the championship. They will gladly take the one they can get. It was reported multiple times during that first weekend that Marc wanted nothing to do with the 2020 and was back on a 2019 chassis.
What he has done with that Academy is just amazing. There was a time, maybe a decade ago, when it seemed like there was nothing left in the Italian pipeline. It was all about Spain.
Precisely..........and it's things like this that still has him on the top of Goat Mountain IMHO, and even the current usurper is a long way off.
Yeah man. Spain was churning them out by the dozen, just look at the grids in the 3 classes. But they've slacked way off (cash cutbacks) and it's going to be all about Italy soon.
