Getting a ton of tire chatter on both ends on a TTR125 stock 100 spec bike with BT45s. Was running 20-22lbs cold. What pressures are you guys running? Drop into the teens?
its a mini... its supposed to chatter. Wait til you overheat the disc pads...lol Lower the tire pressure and put more of your body weight closer
Mine used to chatter so bad I had Jake shoemaker pass me with his knee on the ground between my wheels on his Suzuki while laughing. So loud I could hear him. After, he came up to me in the paddock and says "chatter much? Damn dude" lol..
It's so bad it was rattling the Gopro footage. I'm ok with some chatter. Helps an old dude know when he's creeping up to the limit. Just think it's costing me cornering speed, so if I can tone it down a bit with tire pressures and increase speed, that's my target.
What track we talking about here as far as where you experience the chatter? Or is it every track? Maybe the surface contributes to the chatter problem at one specific track? (just tossing ideas out for consideration)
BWI, but it did so at Sandy Hook too. It was worse at BWI, but I was also pushing harder there. Standard TTR125 setup. 19 up front and 16 in the rear with BT45s. 100F 110R Also the bike has Service Pavilion modded forks and a BBR rear spring.
Wait! You were at BWI Saturday? Were you parked against the back of the paddock? I was right across from you...my son on the gray/black Ohvale and I on the Dianese Ohvale.
No. I was there a few weeks ago. Likely going again this weekend and want to work on minimizing the chatter.
I have my son this weekend....depending on what we have going on, we may be there Saturday for a little practice.
I think chatter is pretty common with the 19" fronts, I believe the chatter issue is why the MiniGP franchises started allowing the TTR/DRZ/KLX bikes to switch to a 16" front.
I get it in the rear too. I'm no setup wizard by any means, at least on a bike, so I'll play with lower air pressures and see if I can get it to a tolerable level...or just throw the thing around and have fun.
I didn't, but dropping that and the KX65 off at my local mechanic (not TSP but he's pretty awesome) on Friday to get sorted.
I tend to agree with this although I haven't ruled out tire pressure or suspension setting (which is modded but still non-progressive).
