You would like this movie, made like a documentary. There is a lot of racing footage, and some pretty intense driver's meetings. It's on Showtime currently.
They were available in select night clubs and casinos in Europe. They wanted it to be a more "exclusive" product, although right before this melt down, they did start hitting the shelves in the UK.
I believe your thinking of Paul Bird's Kawasaki team. His overall team never went under. But, I'm certain it played a part in Kawasaki severing ties with him. I did run across a couple articles that Paul himself copped a ban from "motorsports" for testing positive for cocaine at a rally event. Interesting. Kenny Roberts claims they screwed him when they didn't pay for everything. So, they pulled out of the MotoGP class entirely, mid season-ish.
Gee. Who could have foreseen that? https://www.haasf1team.com/news/haas-f1-team-statement-rich-energy "Haas F1 Team and Rich Energy have amicably agreed to end their partnership together in the FIA Formula One World Championship with immediate effect."
Didn’t see that one coming, said no one ever. I’d really love to know the true story of that company, almost seems like a money laundering deal or something. Something wasn’t right with them since first time I heard the guy talk, nothing added up or made sense. Haas didn’t seem to have any other options and I’m pretty sure knew it was a huge gamble.
Some of the PBM crew members were using the team rig to transport and PB had “no knowledge” of it... maybe he just happened to be cleaning up and found a bit before the cops did He certainly doesn’t look like he’s been doing much lately. Hopefully they get a title sponsor for next year.
Um, yeah, this'll work out. https://www.crash.net/bsb/news/935965/1/omg-racing-secures-rich-energy-title-sponsorship
“We are well aware of the previous controversy linked to Rich Energy; however, William Storey and the team at Rich Energy have been very transparent in their business dealings, to give us full confidence in our partnership to move ahead." Riiiight
I'm surprised they didn't get involved with Norton. They seem to be cut from the same cloth as Stuart Garner.
It is pretty though. Meh, I was over OMG when they dumped Suzuki although I can't blame them when BMW offered better support.
What’s crazy is that I’m fairly certain that team has been funded as a sort of vanity project by three guys who are into the sport (iirc their initials are O, M and G). I guess that got tired of spending their own money.
BMW will support you with great equipment, techs and the latest bits no problem at all. You will pay for everything you get, they don't do free. I hope they got the money up front from Rich. Be a shame to have spent all that cash on tasty paint work, team uniforms, rider gear and catering only for the check to bounce higher then Xaus on cold tires on a hot lap.
Not motorcycle related but I just watched a show that was about Scott Tucker and his pay day lending scam. He ran like $100 million on a car in Rolex Grand Am sports car series. I know this happened awhile ago but it was pretty astonishing the amount of money he made ripping people off. I found several programs about it. I think the one I watched was part of the “American Greed Series.” One of those things if you are bored and it’s on definitely an interesting watch. Ride safe, AAron
