At best it is a L o n g Stretch to get anything he is doing...because it really doesn't apply to things like Doral getting a Summit meeting...it is a very Indirect line of cash flow. Now if he was to somehow be found to get free land in Russia, and free materials and labor for a new TrumpskiTower in Moscow...then you got something.
You sure He owns it? Or does a Trump Corp own it? Yes legally there is a Big Difference.. I'll help ya out...it is owned by "Trump Endeavor 12 LLC"
Here's the clause: No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Truft under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congrefs, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State. Earnings from Trump-owned properties wouldn't qualify since it is not compensation received by virtue of holding an office. He was receiving the same compensation before he held office; there is no connection between the money and the office.
Curious if "son of a sitting vice president" would be considered an office... Best way to tell what the left is guilty of : look at what they are accusing others of doing.
Receiving the same compensation you say, by that you mean he has previously held a similar multi gov event at one of his properties? Or are you saying that the mere face its open to the public and receives compensation via public rentals?
No, it means that the business profits have nothing to do with his office. There has to be a connection to the office he holds.
I would say that would be true if similar events were held there before he was potus. But him being potus, suggesting the location and then naming it as the locations draws a direct connection to him. But i guess we will see how this plays out. Not sure if its really illegal but its not a good look.
It's simpler than that. The question is, does he need to be holding the office of President to receive that money? And the answer is no.
Democrats utter the word emoluments and you roll your eyes and ignore them. That's the best advice you'll hear on it.
Where in the Emoluments clause does it state that the office holder has to be getting the compensation because of the office they hold? It can easily be read that all you have to be is an office holder to not be allowed to receive emoluments from foreign governments.
