Last time I paid attention to Trials the top guy was an American dude with a bowl haircut. Guess that was a while ago.

 

I've always been fascinated by the control and skill required, but there is not a lot of exposure in the states. They used to do a demo at the Cycle World Shows on the Gas Gas machines.

 

Real popular in eastern TN and there’s a trials school outside Monteagle, TN.

Who was that American kid who was the G.O.A.T. in the USA? I can picture him but I can't remember his name at all. Had the bowl haircut, cow lick or whatever you call it.

I don't remember his haircut but the last Anglo-Saxon name I remember is Doug Lampkin (sp?)

 

There's never really been an American who is top in Trials. I thought you might have been thinking Speedway, but Bruce Penhall, nor Billy Hamill have a bowl haircut.

He did actually win the World Championship in 1979 and had several 2nd and 3rds in that era.
