Very similar to the Cessna T-37A Tweety Bird. We had them at Mather AFB for Navigator Training in the 70's.[IMG]

Those Cessna T 37 have the loudest engines of any plane I can think of . That high pitch whine that those twin engines produces goes right to your bones ... my head hurts just looking at that picture

Agreed. Two tiny engines screaming along at 20,000 RPM, at idle - is bad for the ears. It was a good way to be sure every pilot coming through tested to baseline hearing at every physical after UPT thanks to those little jets.

Look up the airworthy F104. Brutally loud.

I heard someone say at an air show that the F86 was the loudest US jet fighter. My personal experience is limited, but I did hear one of those start up, taxi, and take off.

My cousin and I were checking that thing out the other day when we were drinking at the Sky Galley. He is really into planes and even he didn't know wtf that thing was. Interesting to see some specs on it!

A C-5, running its APU on the ground, is the loudest jet on earth.

Like others have said, that is a Morane-Saulnier. Most people in the business know it as the "Paris Jet". Morane-Saulnier built some of the first airplanes in history. That company eventually become Socata who builds the TBM that I sell.

    Garret turboprops are louder

And sound way cooler than a PT6

Helluva lot harder to rig, though.

And killers during maintenance if you forget to remove the starter.

One of Steve’s favorite questions, right up there with “how fast does it go?”

    :D

Obviously you'll get the WERA forum discount, so about $4.2M.

The correct question is, "how much does it cost to operate?"
The purchase price (any airplane) is the cheap part.

I have a PT6A-64 out of a TBM-700 in my shop right now.

    Me too :D

A new TBM is very cheap to operate. They come with 5 years/1000 hours of free maintenance. Even the inspections are included. All you do is buy fuel.
