Sorry for the long post. Allot of that has been built up since last summer when all this AMA/DMG/Manufactures leaving BS and I was on RRW.com today and saw this crap pop up again, then saw that Al Luddiongton video and associated links. I'm down with Al seeing as he's a fellow New Englander and came up threw Loudon. Anyway the reality is Racing is a business. Yes as I rider I would do it for free cause thats my passion and only reason I'm on this wondrous rock called Earth. Ever think about how many different insects species there are. That alone is mind boggling...LOL Anyway I digress. Racing is a Spiritual Zen like focus where mind and body transcend reality. What a great place. One could say we are infant time travelers...ok this is getting weird...LOL. So, racing is a business and most of its participants inside & out of the paddock are their to earn a living. If not we'd all just go club racing. I don't think I need to list it out. Ya I'm a racer first but pulling some support funds at bear minimum sure would open the doors to some real talent. Like the other poster said at the end of the day its all about having great riders. Thats the foundation of the whole deal. Great Riders=Great races=MOre Fans=Mo Money. So the way to do that is to lower cost and increase purse money and guarantee a payout all the way to the last guy. Take away the manufacture quotient for a few seasons, go to all Superstock speck equipment and lets put the race back in racing. I for one had grown very tired of the Yoshimura show and Im die hard Suzuki but even I was like ya great Matt ahead by 7 seconds can I see the race now...LOL. Another point not to be overlooked. The manufactures will come back when they see that the series is making money and grown in popularity. They wanna get paid to. Just as a bike wheel is round so is life as it so perfectly represents. All things work in cycles and this too shall pass. I spent several seasons living out of suitcases and sleeping on my floor with my bike and tools in the kitchen fixing cars to pay to make a National only to take home a few hundred in contingency money. Thats no way to run things. Who knows what my potential might have been could I have afforded to keep things going.
:crackhead: So, by your logic "if they fail then we all fail" means "to hell with the sport"? And "to hell with the fans"? Chip's interest in preserving his current employment means he doesn't care about fans? Is he supposed to want the series to fail and be out of a job so you are more entertained on race weekends?
If it hasn't been said already (cause you lost me on page 4) the title of this thread should be JRP has a new ride.... the couch!
This from Pages Face book... Johnny Rock Page "FIGHT" #269 Johnny Rock Page & #72 Superbike racer Larry Pegram-VIDEO Candid talk about to be released on 9-11, / Off track Excursion / Isolation / New Jersey Weekend / coming soon, for your eyes only...you be the judge! Cory West had this to say in response to his facebook post.... This is some BS! Leave the camera man at home and stay the hell out of the way. You aren't doing any good to our sport by posting crap like this. This is motorcycle racing and some people race as a career, NOT as a hobby/tv show. He has a legitimate reason for being angry. This from another poster in reference to Cory... Rodney Rayborne @Cory, You got to admit it does tend to get the sport some attention. And that is a bit more then Larry has doen in awhile for the sport. Plus some of the airtime that JRP has given roadracing on prime time spots is a pretty big deal, even when your in the back.. And then this.... Paul S Rey Cory's got a valid point. DMG's done enough damage to AMA road racing, so one might not wanna pound more nails into the coffin. Just sayin...' And this... Steven Singleton If no one puts them in check, they will not change. Dont bask in the glory later and complain today. Cameras are needed in the pits. The fans bring in the money. No fans = Low paying factory teams if any. Place yourself in others shoes before being quick to judge. JRP pitted once to get out of the way. hard to get out of the way when you dont know where to go or it may not be safe to change your line to prevent a crash. Maybe start placing mirrors on the bikes. And last... Brice Cooper Aside from this incident in particular, AMA needs to strive to present an opportunity for riders to become super stars in this country. AMA is a legitimate feeder series to the Moto GP. I think it is high time they started treating their riders as such. The only way this series is going to change for the better is if the riders and teams have a ... Read Morecommon goal other than scrounging enough money for the next races tires! If you have ever been to a flat track race you understand that AMA road racing is not far off the mark.
I still remember Whit and Bailey being so excited because 'that nice man' gave our dog some water. It took forever to convince them he was an internet porn star In their defense though, he was one of the nicest guys I've ever met in the paddock.
Johnny is waiting until 9/11 to post it since it's somehow the same thing as a terrorist attack - and no I'm not joking.
JRP apparently hasn't lived through the sudden unexpected loss of someone close to him - otherwise he wouldn't have the audacity to make that association. That is the move of a sensationalist tool.
