I know its already 3 races in, for everyone who is in nationals, but i deffinitely have some concern about the attendance record lately. people seem to be dropping out like flies all over the place because they cannot afford it any more. I know this has happened allot in the past, but i mean with many of the regulars who i know could afford it. Seriously, the wera prices have gone up pretty good over the past 3-4 years. I am sure that its due to the gas quite a bit, but has anyone ever looked to see where the money could be going? Someone(unnamed wera official) has made a pretty recent purchase of a good sized motor coach.. they better be offering up a bed from now on! With the raise in race prices, this hits the little mans pocket hard. I would know as i am a student. Those are pretty bad but it deffinitely did not help having AMA charge for a useless membership. Seriously, Nationals = 150$ for 2 sprints , we are paying that for less than 30 mins worth of racing. I love competition and would rather be on the track than the street, but its almost to the point of not being worth it. Even worse is the so called wera track day, 100$ for 2 sessions, thats about useless. Prices need to start going down or there will be no more racing! (Remember we keep you all in buisness, so dont bite the hand that feeds you!)
Anybody done a survey or comparison of race entry fees, around the country, lately? How about a survey of track rental rates and current pricing trends? Survey of ambulance crew rates and current pricing trends? Insurance? Etc. I'm just askin'...
Logic, Reason and data collection before posting is not allowed on the BBS. You should know that by now.
So how much have we raised fees in the last 3-4 years? I love it when we get bullshit accusations and people telling us how to stay in business. Guess the last 34 years don't count. I'm curious about the student thing, how exactly do you afford to race as a student? It's been a long time but when I was in college I couldn't afford much more than rent and beer.
Remember those officials have jobs they work during the week. Im sure thats where the money for motorhomes/toys comes from. I would guess they do it for the love of the sport not the huge amounts of money they make on the weekends. Also the entries are the cheapest part of the weekend. Racing is expensive period.
You haven't won anything in 5 years, you said so yourself! Maybe you should work for wera so you can upgrade your motorhome, also!
3-4 years ago the prizes were much better. They've definitely gone downhill in the last 3-4 years. Somebody must've bought a motorhome or something with a 20-year loan that won't paid off until they're 72 years old. THAT's what I bet!
