For me, a BMW R100. Plenty of juice for long interstate hauls, dead-ass reliable, comfortable, and even fun in the twisties. Plus cool.
Almost the same; but a 1999 TL-S that I brought new. A Wilber shock, adequate springs on both ends, made it an all day bike; maybe I should say our “Two up” bike. The secret bonus; shifting is totally optional; she thinks we are going too fast when I use the shifter.
Traxxion fork kit, upgraded rotors, pads and lines, custom JRI triple click shock. All to fix shortcomings. LSL top clamp and bars for comfort. I also replaced the stock torque assist clutch with a much improved 2014 V Strom "slipper". I purchased it used because I had my annual fall ride was coming up and I couIt's just fast enough to be fun, just comfortable for a 2-300 mile day in the twisties and just does whatever I need it to do. The big red pig is perfect for me.
First bike I ever took on an expressway was my uncles black zrx and that thing impressed the heck outta me. Was hooked immediately. Great bikes. These days I kinda want a street glide or a road glide with big front fairing and speakers. But I know better. I'll end up using it 1 summer then it will sit, I'd rather ride bicycle or go fishing. Less problems,
Here ya go....https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1337152727364126/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp:fe55bee7-5883-4886-b529-4e21f20d4f66 I had a '97 that I bought new....Broke it and my leg in half at the GAP in '98. Bought it back from insurance and bought a new frame from Suz/Japan and turned it into a HWT twins race bike. Loved the sound with the D&D thumpers on it. Power wheelies were so easy. I often think about finding one again.
It actually has 17" wheels in this picture. You can still get 16" rubber but with the excellent 17" tires now available it makes no sense to continue with 16" if you intend to actually ride the bike.
I am 76” tall, long of inseam, and at 232#, a little “over” average, which makes that BRP, fit me pretty damn well. Exactly !
This is a great question, I'll have to go back and read through all the responses. I have 4 older sport bikes from the 90's. My favorite for comfort and overall ease of riding is my F2. Just wish it had about double the HP. Well, double the torque rather.
1. RD400. Toomeys, programmable CDI ign, 30mm Keihins with oil pump connected, 17 inch wheels. Discard 30+ pounds of junk. 2. Clapped out SV with road rash everywhere.
A really clean, almost stock one popped near me. I can hold it for you until you can get it picked up. https://www.facebook.com/share/16J3EW4ZTv/ It is a twin to Acree's and mine. Sam will say it's fine!
Elmer, you're killing me. I think I either want a BMW Z3 roadster or an older TT and a DRZ400SM. I'm lost, I need a crappy little pick up because I'm stupid. and I'm still retarded for a A3 5 door. . .
