Dammit sucks for Jared:/ With the absolute amazing good luck he's had the last year, he was due.... Worst timing possible though Congrats to Sammy on 2nd. Wish the groove was wide enough to stuff some folks. Still great exposure for the sport!
Well the rains actually occurred prior to the track even being biult, but it probably means, had the rains not been so bad it may have been completed sooner and maybe a chance to resurface and get a groove set in. But yeah, that track sucked!
It couldn't have held on for another half a lap?!?! Ugggg... Halbert did a great job! Despite the track, still GREAT for the sport.
The reason it's rough is because the ground is still saturated under the top layer. A grader would only sink the ground more and cause more ruts and roughness.... Another reason they didn't put anymore water on it. If there is anything I know, it's red clay tracks. I've had nightmares about red clay
Got 3 halbert motors on the shelf right now 25 lap main and it would have been a gold or a crash Sucks the groove wasn't a tad wider:/. You could see baker was almost making the top work... But the hd just out the power down so easily.
The energy drinks all view XGames as their Olympics and it's cut throat when it comes to 'medal count'. Monster would send out daily emails with the updated 'count'. Contracts and money exchanges hands behind half pipes. So with FT now being a "medal event' you betcha ass the drink companies nabbed a few guys. Lol. All a bit funny. Notice that once again XGames has proven they suck at motor related events. They do a passable job with action sports but always butcher Motorsports somehow. (In this case, gate start and BS track). Irony is XGames ratings SUCK compared to pretty much any 'normal' thing ESPN airs but what it does is skew their demo numbers towards the coveted 14-24 demo and that in turn helps them sell advertising. So they keep doing it.
I'm just guessing here, but I would bet that the starting gate was an effort to do something different in the sport. And, it seems to me that Robby Bobby is correct in that the torrential rains they've had an Austin had a lot to do with how the track and surface turned out.
