Wrapping Cedar/Arbor Vitae Trees for winter/deer protection

In the past, I would use burlap to wrap my cedar trees on the land to save them from being decimated by the deer. I have seen some houses in the area that use a white plastic wrap. I checked around, and Home Depot and a few hardware stores were of no help. Amazon only seems to have heavy-duty zip-up bags. I was thinking something that is a bit cheaper and more durable that burlap, but not to the scale of zip up bags, a la Christmas tree storage bags......

Any help on what the plastic wrap is, or is called, and a source? Thanks in advance.

Never heard of or seen such a thing. I wouldn't think
plastic would be a good idea. It would warm up the
tree on sunny days, possibly tricking the tree into
behaving as if it's spring. Even using burlap is not
really good for the tree. To protect from heavy snow
damage, wrap the branches with string or rope.
To protect from animals, put long stakes a ways out
from the tree and put up something like chicken wire.

It's possible those folks are using something like boat
wrap, but it sounds like a bad idea.

That's weird, I bet I have at least fifty little cedars in the timber around my house that the deer don't bother at all. This summer I had better than half a dozen deer living right around my house pretty much full-time.

Anyhow, around me people use three or four steel fence posts and wire mesh to make cages around trees they want to protect from deer.

Have Cedars all over my property, haven’t seen any damage at all from our deer that wander through.
