    I agree with you but with this being the crime of the century, I doubt it.


    Heck if Obama and clan really wanted to make some coin over this one, they could hire MM for a billion [tax] $$$ to do one of his fake documentaries and contract out the actual execution (thinking positive here) ala PPV, it'd generate some coin fo sho.

    Someone can be a socialist and a patriotic American too.

    I don't agree with forcing socialism on people who don't want it though. If someone wants to be a socialist they should find other people who want to be socialists too and set up their commune. Then they could/would/do love America because our FREEDOM allows them to fulfill themselves.

    I think the problem only arises when the socialists want everyone to be just like them - which goes against the core of what makes the USA what it is.

    Have you read the Constitution and Bill of Rights? What definition of "socialist" are you using here?

    Socialism runs a broad spectrum from those who believe in a dictatorship where the entire means of production is owned and or controlled by the people (central government) and the economy is centrally controlled, to the thoroughly democratic socialist that believes that the government should only control economic forces within a market economy, with perhaps selective nationalization of key businesses/industries while still having basically a free market economy.

    Can you guess which socialists I'm talking about?

    "socialist" at its base in simple words means elimination of inequality in income and status and standards of living.


    Is one really that much at odds with the other? They can coexist, and they have.

    I stole this list from somewhere else

    The New National banking system
    The VA Hospital
    The Post Office
    Jails
    Medicare
    SSI
    unemployment
    Parks (national and city)
    Beaches (national and city)
    Libraries
    Road, Streets, Highways, byways, Freeways
    Schools
    Street lamps and or any lighting paid by the Gov't (city included)
    The U.S Military (Paid by the Government using tax dollars)
    and I'm sure I didn't get all the programs.

    And that not counting fire companies & Police

    If your whining about Socialists please feel free to not use these Un-American programs...

    Fortunately, the democrats and republicans have largely co-opted the socialist agenda. :crackup:

    Um, sorry, but national banks, veterans' hospitals, postal services, jails, parks, beaches, libraries, public roads, public schools, street lamps, armies, fire depts, and police all preexisted socialism.

    But lets give credit where credit is due: Without modern socialist principles there might never have been a social security system, medicare, or unemployment benefits.

    Pure democracy is nothing more than mob rule. I advocate individual liberty. Individual liberty should not be subject to popular vote. You know the old axiom: That government which governs least governs best.

    You are right. Both the Republicans and the Democrats have moved to the left. I would bet that JFK would be far to the right of modern day Republicans.

    Regardless of when Modern socialism originated, a social program is a social program. Enjoyed by all & for the common good.

    I couldn't even tell if you were being serious. I actually thought you may have been reading the wrong documents.

    Help me out here Chuck. I just can't find much about any support for that "common good" stuff in my copy of the Bill of Rights. It just seems like the entire document is written to guarantee and protect the INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS of the PEOPLE. Now maybe they just mis-worded it, but it's funny how those founding fathers seem to prioritize.

    ...And the gov't "controlling" economic forces makes me think you're joking again. That's the definition of an oxymoron. And even more to the point, where exactly is that supported in the US version of the manifesto?

    Some pretty bad examples there.
    Vets Hospitals are needed because of service related injuries. Jails/police/fire/roads/armies/street lights/beaches are things for modern society that everyone benefits equally from and we all pay for.

    Police/fire/ems/military are all essential services.

    Post office/schools/social security/medicare/unemployment are things that benefit some to the cost of most, but not all.
    Post office can be privatized and done away with as a federal agency. They've proved themselves to be another bureaucratic cesspool.
    Schools can be privatized. Most large public education systems are nothing more than mini-jails or day care centers. The learning part is becoming extinct as we keep pushing more and more illiterate kids through.
    Social security is a farce and a horrible return on one's money that is not voluntary and benefits far too many that do no pay into the system. Sort like the health care proposal on the table.
    Unemployment benefits...double edged sword. Nice to have the benefit in the event you might be needing it, but extending it to the point that people won't go back out there and get some kind of work is nonsense. Lets make it a 5 year benefit program while we're at it. It robs people of the motivation to get out there and find work.
    Lets not even go and bring up welfare.

    Socialism still sucks.
