Yeap, but I learned it from the dirty trackers way back from the 1780's and when they tell you something, it's law and you stick to it. Like pissing in your own hands and letting it dry to prevent blisters. . .
Some of you were never in the military and it shows…. B+ here, learned when I was 17 and if you aren’t writing your blood type and either NKA or your allergies on a piece of tape around your ankle are you even tacticool?
A+, know it because I have an incompatible blood type with my mom and nearly caused some complications for both of us when I was born so got to hear that story early on.
Yep! I remember that was a requirement, and should be in the new rider handbook! Luckily no one ever had to add oil to this fellur!
It was a requirement in the UK, every racer had to wear a dog tag, with name, date of birth and blood group. It was result of a really bad crash in a sidecar race in the early 70's when three riders died and they didn't know who was who in the hospital. Not necessarily. I mentioned this once when I was donating blood, it's the common stuff that they run out of, the rare stuff doesn't get used as often so they normally have a supply of it, might be different in the US of course.
A dog tag or other indicator kind of makes sense but a helmet sticker could potentially cause more harm than good. People sometimes borrow helmets at the track in a pinch. A field test can type the blood in minutes. If it's really urgent and they can't wait for the test results they can hopefully use some O negative to get started.
I had blood work done a few years ago for a check-up. What are the odds I could call their office and find out what blood type I am? I should definitely try. Not gonna voluntarily get a needle in my arm for anything
If you are ever in need of blood, any hospital/ER will confirm your blood type before pumping more blood into. (used to work on chemistry/blood analyzers in Hospitals/ Stat labs and saw it all the time) This negates any need to write it down anywhere unless it makes you feel better. That said, military does it on dog tags for the battle field. A- myself. On a side note, for an interesting rabbit hole, read up on Blood Type Diet. Short story, a bunch of Dr's researched which foods you should/should not eat based on your blood type. Has to do with how you process foods and what your body needs and that is different based on your blood type. A- for me means I should eat a more Mediterranean type diet. When I eat this way, I can tell the difference in how I feel. I love a good steak but feel like ass after eating it or most red meats in large volume. Red meat is on my list of dont eat. My wife is O- and should eat lots of red meat and she does and she feels great eating that way.
O- The blood banks blow up my phone more often than the people trying to contact me about extended warranties for my vehicle.
i tried it for a while. A- … love red meat. Hate poultry. wife should eat less carbs and more red meat. she runs on pasta… all taken with a grain of salt. i used to donate on a regular basis, but decided to keep my juice for now.
I can't remember for sure but I think I knew my type (O+) before my age had two digits. Or not long after that.
