Big depreciation in the Tesla's, I can see why an off lease would be more enticing if you're looking for an EV

Yep, all the electrics are dropping like a rock, so it makes a potentially smart used car buy.

I couldn't blame someone for using the rocket like rates of depreciation on them to their benefit.

Per the article, there year old EV's are selling like hotcakes, but "three-year-old used EVs are hard to find, and account for only 1.6% of the overall three-year-old car market."

    Huh?

Also, how do you check battery condition on used EV's?

When a commodity is in short supply, it stands to reason that examples would spend less time in the market than more abundant commodities.

That article is a flaming bag of poo on the steps of propaganda.

The batteries usually come with a 8 year warranty and 100k miles. In California it is 10 years, 150k warranty. I’ve have friends that have hit 200k before having battery issues.

I think the Tesla has a screen that tells you battery life/condition? I’m not sure if my wife’s electric does that? I’m not interested in the car enough to read through the manuals and figure it out. I know when we bought it, the range was 335-350 miles on a full charge. Last week when we got in it after it charged, I noticed it said 374 miles. I’m guessing that is because she is now driving more freeway miles going back and forth to work at our business.

I just learned you can lease a used tesla through tesla. The model 3 2018 leases for $161 a month when i looked it up.

Hertz was selling a bunch of them for great deals a year or so ago. I looked and thought about buying one but realized i have no need for it. I don't commute anywhere and if i do go somewhere on a business trip, its beyond the range of a single charge. It was tempting though, they had some nice dual motor, model 3s with less than 30k miles for around $20-25K

I saw BMW 2 series renting in Pittsburg for under 60 a day when I looked last week. Sixt. That was all in. Daily rate was 32 before the fees.

Also if you have never heard of them Sixt is big in EU. I first thought they were some fly by night rental place.

Sixt gets even worse reviews than the terrible reviews most rental companies get.

Eh, never had an issue. And they tend to be the only place with decent cars.
