My 2014 just started burning an annoying amount of oil at 145k. Switching to a thicker oil until it finally goes. Compression numbers were still pretty great.
Early summer I poked a few dealers about used crosstreks. Priced at new msrp pretty much. Couple weeks ago talked to a dealer again, but had to put it off for another month or two, and the dealer replied with a "is there anything we can do to close this deal". That was a bit of a shocker.

Speaking of payments, while perusing ads for CFR's I saw a 2021 and the guys final comment was "we'll have to meet at the bank as I'm still making payments". It was a $5,000 bike when new, what the hell kind of loan did he take out?!

Haha, the old "What can we do to get you in this car today?" spiel. As old as time.

I understand using the bank's, the dealer's or the manufacturer's money but DAMN.

Keep feeding it oil until the cats die. That's still cheaper than a car payment.

Or Spaniards as 'Spics'? I keep forgetting how unconsciously white power some of this board are.

If it's burning oil because of an issue with the piston rings, the thicker engine oil will actually make the problem worse.

When I was barely an adult, I drove the car lots on Sundays, dreaming about a new truck. When I could barely afford one, I bought it. Then I repeated that process every two years. I even leased a couple.

Now that I'm older and can afford a new truck, I refuse to let my 7-year-old Tundra go. The psychology that motivates what is often our second-largest purchase is a mystery.

It's not Spaniards, it's Hispanics...who have white Spanish heritage, but still. Hispanics.

I wanted a certain model car since I was a kid. Bought the magazines and later would check them out on the net. Once I could afford not just a used or base one without stress I suddenly didn't want one anymore. Weird how shit changes.

    Still, it would be cool.

I just picked up a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport as a project. The heater core popped and leaked inside, and there's a squealing noise coming from the belt drive. Likely the water pump on its way out. These people know nothing about working on vehicles and don't want to put any more money into it, so I took it for $500. Body is straight, no rust. The rest of the vehicle is in great shape for 20 years old, but they are scared of the water pump and were just going to junk it.
The water pump/timing belt are easy enough, the heater core is going to be a pain. But still, for $500, it will be a good project for my son and I.

Yeah but 911 drivers are usually cockheads and I didn't want to be a cockhead car supporter. :D

Almost became an Audi S6 but whatever. I bought two subarus instead.

Good lord Peter Puffer. Retirement, photography and 2 Subaru's? Go ahead and post a selfie of you in a black mock neck trying to save the music. Have you shit your pants yet from all of the granola?

Mix of daily driving and long distance towing of a lightweight toy hauler for track use.

I agree that I need to be careful about using it as a daily driver with all the emissions shit. Not my first time dealing with modern diesel stuff.

I have my girlfriends Mazda that we use around town mostly now. It's mighty hard to look away from an all around good 1/2 ton that gets 27 ish MPG highway though.
