I think student loan payments resumed. That would affect car repos.

Will Starbucks be affected? A student loan holder will likely need a daily $9 highly caffinated beverage or 2.

There is far more demand than there is supply in the used market. Prices aren't cooling until supply increases, which is tough to do when supply of new makes is restricted, particularly Toyota and Honda. Until dealers have new lined up and in stock (they don't), used will continue to rival new prices.
Chrysler/Dodge/Ram/ Jeep dealers seem to be the only ones with excess inventory right now, for whatever reason. GM, Ford and Jap makes have limited inventory.

There are ALOT of dealers in the midwest that offer a "fly & drive" service for 3-4% under invoice on new. Compared to my local SE dealers that was $9500-12,000 off the price they were asking. It makes no sense to buy a slightly used unless the price discount was dramatic. https://www.grangerford.com/

If this going to be a long-term experience or a daily driver, you’re going to have issues with that diesel. With today’s diesel emission systems and regular idling, it’s inevitable. If you travel the interstate for a living, it’s the right choice, provided you use an additive to keep the fuel pump, injectors, and DPF happy.

100% true. we've long lived for a while now where everyone has to have everything anyone else has regardless of actual earnings/lifestyle/burdens. meanwhile, i got forcibly kicked off my Galaxy S7 like 3 years ago because they'd no longer support the network haha. had a good 6 year run. it became a game honestly to see how long i could stretch it at a certain point, but even then... the base model Galaxy was like $800, so ridiculous.

I know I'm ridiculous in other ways (cars and bikes for toys), but this is why my no electronics purchasing and 5-packs of black tshirts afford it for me. hard to have it all.

My boss traded in his ‘22 F350 srw king ranch because of repeated transmission issues along with some electrical gremlins.

Hmm, been watching FB Market pace for while and I see used cars coming down in price, especially used trucks in the 75k-125k mile range. Currently still driving my 2015 GMC 3500HD Sierra (6.0 Gasser) with 80K on the clock and they have lost value for what I am seeing. Only looking as I still would like a diesel for better pulling power as thats all I use the truck for. Wife drives 2014 Acura MDX with 165k on the clock. No plans on replacing it until we have to. Still runs great and gets the job done. Both vehicles are paid for, do not like payments on vehicles.

We just picked this up for our 15 year son (turns 16 in November) from a friend who is moving out of state. 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV with 114k Miles. Paid $1k for it. My friend is not a mechanic type guy and takes it to the dealer for all service. They told him it has a drivers side valve/lifter issue. Showed him larger than normal chunks of metal in the oil. Spooked him so he bought a used VW Atlas on the spot. They only offered him $1k trade in on it and he declined. He's had it sitting in his driveway for 8 months driving it periodically. When he decided to move, he wanted to give it to our son but we couldn't take that and gave him the $1k for it. He felt better with our $1k than the dealer offering it to him. It does have a nice drivers side "Ticking" (valve/lifter noise) so it might need a motor soon. But I can pick up a low mile JDM motor for about $1500 locally so we are still ahead if we need to swap it out. For now, it runs great although it has thrown 2 CEL for random issues which both I have cleared and not come back. It also needed a serious amount of cleaning as it was a "Single Guy" commuter car. The melted red/purple crayons in the back seat cup holder were a nice touch. (he has a young daughter)

Anyway, perfect first car for the boy and we felt $1k starter car wasn't spoiling him too bad. He will pay for his own gas and do his own maintenance. (with dads tools and help)

    I was fucking astounded.

I gotta give the public school system a lot of credit, they're graduating out some of the dumbest motherfuckers I've ever met.

Americans addiction to phones is something nobody wants to talk about.

It comes full circle when you're at a red light, and theres a dude on a smartphone, with a 8$ pack of cigarettes, begging for money.
