Have you thought about what it’s like to jam a 1.5” 23g needle in your leg every four days? I can tell you, it gets real old. I’m every 10 days and feel like a pin cushion.
I tried the ass for a bit but was never comfortable due to now being able to see back there very well. I notice the thigh is a bit more painful but I know 100% that I am deep in the muscle. One time about three months ago I was out of 23g needles so I said what the heck, I will just inject with the 18g. DONT.DO.THAT. It hurt like freaking hell.
Dummy. Next time maybe just grab a 3/8” drill bit, run it in a couple inches, and just pour in the test. Might be less painful.
18ga for drawing out the test, not injecting it. I've been drawing with the 23 and it takes like 10 seconds longer than the youtube videos I saw with an 18. I think i'll stick with one 23 for both instead of switching needles, the small amount of time hasn't bothered me(yet.) But my right glute is still a little sore from the last Tuesday, I'll give it another week before I go to the doc and make sure I didn't create an abcess or whatever it's called. I haven't had trouble twisting to see the injection, my trouble is shaking, I shake bad naturally so holding a needle steady while injecting isn't easy, even the sub-q into my stomach looks like a jack hammer. When you're doing the outer thigh what gauge/length are you using?
You guys are nuts. I use 26g and wouldn't go any larger. Yes, it takes a bit to inject, but I have my wife who works in healthcare do it so she has it down. Im on year 4 of injections and have never felt pain or soreness. Everyone is different though and I am going to look into the small needles and going the every few days route in your stomach like the video posted a page back.
I use 29g .5ML cc 1/2 inch insulin syringes. I ordered them in bulk from one of the online pharmacy's. Maybe OTC wholesale? I forget now. Brand is Easy Touch
Clinic sends me the whole shiteree. Syringes, 18 & 26ga pins, alcohol swabs, test, and whatever e blocker I'm supposed to take but don't. They actually give me too many supplies. If any of you fight or grapple, the 18s are nice for draining cauliflower ears. Did one a month or so ago and it looks like it never happened.
Anyone here on the cream or gel? I talked to a guy who has been on that for 4 years. It is working for him, the doc he goes to takes it himself (I think this is compounded, not the 1.6% or whatever names stuff). The doc I talked to also recommended the cream/gel, keeps levels more even. Plus, not really liking the though of sticking myself every few days for about 25-30 years.
I haven't personally seen any blood work that indicated the creams were better in any way. That being said, that doesn't mean it can't work. Everyone's body and situation is so different that the only real answer is to try it and get bloodwork. I would suggest reading on Excelmale or similar forum which has a large amount if medical professionals participating as well as a user base that generally logs everything with bloodwork.
I didn't like the idea of the creams in my case. Also, when I worked for an insurance company doing prescription plans I'd speak to people on the creams that complained about the smell, side effects and the need to avoid contact with kids and pregnant woman. That was like 6 years ago so things may have changed.
