I may have missed in the earlier posts, but anyone just take clomid to help your body to produce more itself?
Are we referring to from a doctor? Clomid is one of the more common PCTs (post-cycle treatments) for restoring normal Test production. It works by blocking estrogen reception at the pituitary gland (a % of Test gets converted to estrogen). But as far as doctors go, it “can” be prescribed to men, but usually isn’t. If it is, it’s considered “off label” because Clomid doesn’t have FDA approval for males. It was originally approved for women and it is highly unlikely that anyone will spend the millions required to get it approved for men. But men have successfully been using it forever.
I've heard of it being prescribed by a real Endo. The idea being that it bump starts your system and doesn't drop your sperm count down. My doctor discussed it with me as well but we ultimately concluded it wasn't best for my situation. Ask your doctor would be my advice.
They typically try HCG first. But yeah, that’s the advantage to Clomid. It increases Test production without any negative side effects to the reproductive system.
For you guys shooting test, do you play with your dosage? Do you think there's a point of diminishing return? I think it's really easy to get all broscience and assume that more is better, assuming no side effects. I kind of looked at it that way, but the big issue I'm having is muscle mass. I'm up to 208, and my bodyfat is down. Sounds like a good thing, but I have to carry it around. Between BJJ and weight training, I put a lot of stress on my muscles and connecting tissue. The obvious outcome is my body adapting to that stress with stronger muscles. The problem is that I also run and do endurance events. I had a 16 mile run this weekend that destroyed me. I was sucking wind and hating life for about half of it. I really think it's a byproduct of the extra mass, and part of me wonders if I need to back off the test.
Yes. based from doctor. I went to see one a few weeks ago. Sometimes I feel ok, sometimes I feel like crap. Levels were in the lower 400's. I eat decent, don't drink a lot, lift weights regularly. I am 43. Honestly I thought with all that I would feel better than I do. Anyway this doctor specializes in hormones. I do not want to start full replacement, at this point. He mentioned about trying the Clomid. I had heard of it as a PCT. The stuff I read says it can help raise levels, but in some that does not translate to sex drive. Something about it may also cause a rise in estrogen to offset the Test increase. I had wondered if any of you had tried just that. I should be safe in the 25mg dosage and it is cheap. I may see how it works.
I get blood work every sixty days. As a result of switching to sub-q injections and some other tweaks, I've decreased my dosage around 30 percent.
My first draw was three months in. Total test came back over 1500. Seems excessive, so I've dialed it back also. I've dialed my last two injections back to .8 cc. Looking forward to my next draw.
I personally feel much more comfortable with bioidentical hormone injections than I do with a drug that interferes with my endocrine system. I understand that my body is no longer producing test at normal levels since I'm putting it in there, but it seems safer and more direct than drugs. I don't even take an estrogen blocker. I will if I have to, but my estrogen levels were low normal on my last draw. Look at it this way, if you need more protein, you eat more meat or drink a protein shake. You don't try to take a drug that changes your chemistry so you metabolize food differently. If you're short on test, add test. Just my opinion, and I'm no doctor...
Exactly my issue. I was able to dial back my AI significantly. Staying that high means you need full on cycle dosages of supporting supps. Just wasn't what I wanted.
I really don't want to turn into a steakhead. Plus the girl I'm dating seems to think that 3x a day is a little much. She's been wearing three layers trying to slow me down.
I see your point. I was thinking if I could do something to help its more natural production then that might be better.
Did you guys get your initial level test done at your family physician? I'd like to get one just to know, but I don't wanna deal with the sales pitch and associated bullshit at one of those men's clinics. I have a physical coming up soon but not sure how this is handled. I turned 42 a month ago. I still lift at mod-high intensity (20 times a month, 1 hour workouts with 90 second rest periods). My strength is fine, I feel good overall, but my waistline fights me every day to not get out of control. I eat very clean, but I do enjoy me cold beers. I'm still fitting into size 34 pants, but I'm not as lean as I used to be and it's a battle to keep it where it's at. The one striking thing I have noticed, is my...er... drive, is down. I was a minimum of a 5 days a week a guy up till a few months ago, now I'm fine if it's once a week and that doesn't sit right with me.
