    Sweatypants I am so smart! S-M-R-T... I mean S-M-A-R-T!

guitar: John Williams (not Star Wars) is still one of the single best people to ever touch a guitar

drums: Yussef Dayes is out of control, and so is this dude El Estepario Sibariano. i don't really like progressive Dragonforce rock shit, but i appreciate the skill it takes to play it.

probably the most celebrated drummer ever. He’s got the seniority. But not the best as compared to virtuosos of today.

But that was when they played 4 or 5 piece sets with those spindly stands. It’s like comparing Chuck Berry to Hendrix

cha0s#242 Ignorance and prejudice and fear walk hand in hand

Larnell Lewis of Snarky Puppy and his own band. #1 drummer on the planet at this time imo.

Saw him in concert in the 80’s in the gymnasium at Catawba College in Salisbury,NC. My dad took me and my two younger brothers. We were on the floor level bleachers, and I was probably 15 feet away from Buddy. I’ve played the drums since I was 4, my dad played drums for several big-band jazz bands and made good money as a side gig. During that concert, Buddy Rich did things I’d never seen a drummer do before. I’d seen Rush in concert before, this was way-higher skills here. At one point Buddy did a drum roll with his left hand, and it was nearly as smooth as I could do it with both hands. That guy was next-level talented. He was also a 4th or 5th-degree black belt, which I could easily see with his quickness. He died a few years later on the operating table during surgery.

    Dave K DaveK über alles!

J Mascis, bill Stevenson, Sulynn Hago (or anyone in propaghandi), anyone in face to face. . .

And really, if you’re naming a musician in a famous band you’re wasting everyone’s time in this.

    Bass - Lee Sklar
Bass - Carmine Rojas. Saw him with Joe Bonamassa, and what an amazing talent.
Fully agree with Mike Portnoy and Jeff Porcaro on drums.

I would say Buddy Rich is too well known to be on this list.
