I didn't start road racing until I was 58. I'm 67 now and am so much looking forward to racing at Road Atlanta in a few Weeks. I started so late that I don't have anything to prove. The week end I learned the most was a few years ago at Nelson ledges. The first day was a track day then two days of racing. I followed a fairly fast instructor the first day and was on a bigger bike than him so I could catch back up and watch him in turns. It was very helpful just seeing how fast to enter turns. When I was a kid I was a fast motocrosser, but when I started road racing at 58 I didn't have anything to prove so it's all just gravy and having fun. I think about being safe on the track but still have alot of fun. In a wierd way , I'm glad I did not start road racing earlier. Racing in vintage classes is a hoot!
You're 50 now or your heyday was age 50? Hoping it's the latter, means there's still hope for me taking a Moto GP title someday.
