Verstappen v. The Mclarens will be hailed as some of the greatest racing of the season, but I don’t think these moments were better than even the worst pass in the Indycar race. This nonsense where drivers can just push each other off has to stop.
Someone needs to just hang in there when max pushes them wide and take both out - do it a few times and he'll get the message (maybe). Its so frustrating watching everyone just give way when he does that crap.
I used to be pissed at Max, but have definitely come around on it. If the competition and stewards allow it then it’s on them. That said I thought he was tough and fair mid race against the McLarens even though they lost a ton of time. He’d have been on the podium if he didn’t defend so inefficiently against Norris. He was praised for his defense but it was stupid. But I am with you. I wish Norris would have held his line when max swung wide on lap1, T2. Norris is so easy for him to bully out of position.
Yeah unless he can show that Leclerc was taking it easy before he was allowed to swap, he doesn’t have much to stand on. He had plenty of laps to try to pull away. I was a bit surprised by how poorly Leclerc gave that position to Hamilton. He damn near came to a stop on the straight with Sainz too close for comport.
I believed that story for 33 years until Prost spoke up in a documentary last year. Ferrari made stuff up. He had had an issue with the steering in the car that weekend and his feedback was taken completely out of context.
F1 reminds me of amateur hour CrapWagons these days. If I spent my whole life climbing the ladder of motorsports and finally made it to F1 and then the team told me to move over on the radio, I would put that car into the wall as hard as possible. Same with the stupid block passes and running people off the track. I'd ram that M'fer right in the side and wipeout their car. Wouldn't happen again.
Save it, bud. The guy doesn't even watch anymore. No earthly idea how he knows so much about it though.
I *try* to watch the race highlights on Youtube. One of the announcers screams like a hysterical female the entire time, so I have to turn the volume all the way down.
Max drives with the confidence of a guy with a 20-year-old rusty car in congested city traffic. He doesn't give a shit. He knows you will back off. Someone needs to sacrifice their shiny new AMG to show him that he also has something to lose.
Not sure, I mean if they set the rules and standards and he's just driving to the limit of those rules... These guys are paid a LOT of money to bring home points. They will ALL push their luck as far as it will go. It's up to the FIA to set driving standards and then enforce them.
Hell no. Every series has its favorites. And sometimes said favorites get picked for different reasons. Magnussen comes off as a bump on a log with no personality. Max is ugly as shit, but he's exciting behind the wheel and in the press.
F1 may be owned by Americans, but I still view it as a good ol' boys club. The old English "stiff upper lip" mentality. Heaven help you if try to upset the apple cart in some way and make a mockery of European sensibilities. It's a lot like going up against the rulers of NASCAR.
