Sandbagging according to my dictionary is purposely going slow in order to finish poorly so you can improve your position later. Worse than Sandbagging is knowing you are faster than your competition and taking advantage of that. Take this past weekends action at Talladega. Edward R. Cobb won the 3 races he competed in. Here are the 1999 stats on Edward. In 27 races where he posted results Edward finished top 5 23 times. He won 3 National Challenge Series Races and his worst finish was an 8th one time. I am not a racer so I am not bitter because I cant win. I am just saying that MR Cobb is a great rider and I would enjoy watching him compete as an expert.
I also feel that competition in the expert field will be more challanging and rewarding for him and would likely improve his skills/learning curve vs. staying novice!
If you are already the best amoung your fellow novices, what motivates you to become better and faster? New goals and challenges in the expert class!
