News is some water seeping up and across road at Brandywell section. DOI hustling to get it sorted. Unintentionally killing Victory Cafe business as road is closed from Ramsey to the Creg until at least mid day Sunday. But they know getting the road sorted is bigger picture.
OK all other racing over. @Steeltoe how do you pay attention to the TT? I remember I used to listen to a stream over my computer when I was working a few years back. It seemed separate from the videos, guys nattering on about the experience even when there weren’t bikes on track. Perhaps it is integrated now? One stream that I am willing to pay for.
Seems I'm grandfathered somehow, but what he said. https://ttplus.iomttraces.com/products/2025-tt-live-pass I also have Manx radio streaming on the side. Beside additional TT coverage and updates, they play some cool music. IMO and YRMV as always.
I had plans to go about 10 years ago, but had to cancel. Now that I’m not working, anybody have any tips for attending race week? Like, if money were no object, what would be the best way to do it? My wife and I are considering planning a trip for next year. We’ve looked at the packages from Pole Position and Duke.
Depends on what kind of experience you want. Camping for me? No. We booked our own travel from Dublin to IOM, stayed in a hotel in Douglas, figured out what we wanted to see, where we wanted to be and so on, ahead of time. You have to book your stuff early, including where you want to be on the track, they have shuttles taking you everywhere. We were not interested in a package deal, although I guess you could do that and bail on the stuff you’re not interested in. THE most important part for us is we made friends with a cab driver from the island who basically chauffered us everywhere we wanted to go. Including to the post office to get Michael Dunlop’s commerative post card. And a bunch of other tips. Be nice to people, and tip well. I still have his card floating around here somewhere. Roamed around the pits, met a few sidecar teams (those people are crazy). And we learned to play snooker! If you don’t go the package deal route, watch the flights like a hawk, they sell out quick. Susan and I were like a fat kid on a ham sandwich.
Yup, book now. Tickets, stay, ferry or flight, etc. All my friends that are there now already booked for 2026. Some do packages but most their own thing. Stay a day or two after the Senior race to avoid the mass exodus. Bring all your patience and be ready for the experiences.
If I went again I would stay in a vetted B&B and find that guy’s card (he really was great, all the local gossip, who knows if any of it was true, who cares). Food offerings were not great, but I am a foodie and can cook, so no problem. Oh and I spent 30 years working in NYC, I never found my patience tested. The food did suck though.
Partially, however you didn't mention them forming their own team, which was the main reasoning for my post. I didn't even realize Hicky & Todd were on the same team last year, until your quote. I'll admit, just been watching the last 2 years, but haven't really focused on who's riding for who, etc., until now. Regardless, feels like it'll be an interesting TT with all the team changes.
