Peeps are already setting foot on that sacred place. Ben-my--Chree and the Mannanan ferries on the docks.
Amazing feats of motorcycle skill and bravery thrown in with insanity to hurl yourself WFO down what mostly appears to be straight country roads. Mostly straight at least from my spectating point of view. Am I missing something? And with the near certain annual loss of life, I have to admit, this doesn't nearly grab my interest like purpose built race track racing does.
It'll be interesting to see if Michael Dunlop sticks with the Ducati for supersport. He's not known for riding the same horses he starts the fortnight, by the end of the races, lol I'm sure his old trusty R6 will be squirrelled away in the back somewhere. Sounds like Davy isn't taking a chance, and switching back to Honda for supersport. I expect he'll be ONIT no matter what he's riding. In every class. McPint has exceeded his mentor, Joey, in age at entry. I think he and Rutter are trying to out last each other. Hicky running his own program across the board will be under test this year. Along with some of Davy's bikes. I'm sure he's got a lot of good people, so here's hoping for a solid, reliable, quiver for the TT.
Yes x 1000. "Spectating point of view" meaning what exactly ?? If you've been there you certainly know the course isn't mostly straight. Heck, you can tell that from watching the videos. Maybe this will help ya a bit... Also, none of the videos due justice to the elevation changes, road camber, turn radius, etc.
Feel pretty certain there is a trusty R6 close by. And maybe even a Fireblade if Dunlop gets bad vibes with either the Ducati or BMW. The BMW is a full factory spec bike built and supported by SMR, Shaun Muir Racing, who is the owner of Toprak's team. Davey is back with on Padgetts Honda due to TAS Racing ( V2 he rode ) opted out of the "roads" to concentrate on short circuits in BSB for 2025. Nothing to do with the V2, just how the cards fell with the TAS team. Regardless, hope the weather cooperates and racing is fast and safe.
This is the dumbest post on the BBS since it was formed many many years ago....This post is the epitome of "sometimes it's better to let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and relieve all doubt" The IOMTT is anything but straight LOL....This is a post that will live on FOREVER in my mind......Fukin epic....
I encourage everyone to go to the TT at least once! I've been to every major Motorized sporting event. F1, MotoGP, WSBK, BSB, Moto America, the Indy 500. Le Mans 24 for cars. Given the choice to go to any one of those. I'd pick the TT every time. Unless you've been, you just don't know. To say the riders are crazy or mad men is just dumb. Spoken with Hicky, he is a very bright smart young man, young in that I'm old. Wishing all the riders safe racing this year. Just look at what happened at Oulton Park BSB. Riding/Racing motorcycles is dangerous. It's a calculate risk we take every time we ride. The day I stop riding; will be the day I start dying. Hopefully I'll be one of those wrinkly old man at 90 out there on the road. 61 and hitting V.I.R on Monday, weather not looking so great at the moment, hopefully that changes.
Be careful with that thought. Sometimes horrible things happen to you (spinal cord injury) that take away your ability to ride. I definitely don't feel like I'm dying but I do miss riding and racing.
heading back to IOM the 29th to watch the madness again! Me and 2 buddies (they've been 5 times) bought used rental street legal dirt bikes from hard enduro champ David Knight. he lives there and has a big shop just past Sulby on the road course. we rented bikes from him last year and got to get a tour of many of the cool trails there. way hillier and rocky than i'm used to here in FL. cool part about having a street legal dirt bike (2023 KTM 300xcw i bought that i rented last year), you can get to other parts of the course after the road is closed for racing, by taking the many trails. we didn't even have a rental car/truck last year.. just the bikes.
