I’m planning on going to the GP race and wanted to see who has been and what they recommend. Where to sit, where to stay and any other suggestions on what other things to see in the area. Thanks
Catalunya was my first euro GP round. We stayed in Barcelona near the Sants station. We used the Barcelona Bus Turístic to get to the track. Made it quick and easy to get in and out. We spectated between turns 5 and 6. As far as Barcelona - too much to list to see .
I have been to the Catalunya GP a few times. We have stayed in Barcelona and as far south as Sitges. You really can’t go wrong, but as we were leaving this year protests were starting over downtown apartments becoming VRBO and vacation rentals making housing unaffordable. I prefer to sit at the end of the front straight in the braking zone in the grandstand that is not covered. It’s hot, but not too hot. I think it’s Turn 5 that sees a lot of low side tip offs. As far as what to see…we have had great luck with TripAdvisor. Montserrat, the soccer stadium expansion, Park Guell, and others are all fun to see. Madrid by the high speed train is a few hours away and is one of Europe’s great cities.
It looks like right now I can only find tickets on the main straight but they are part of a VIP package and I'm not looking to spend that much. The other options are T9 or T12.
