I’ve built a few things over the last four decades… I’m redoing a house I built as a kid now… it was neglected and had a water issue from roofing damage… guess what still perfect? The precast concrete and steel I beams and even the real 2x12s… all the OSB and CDX are trash of course… there aren’t any LVL megalithic structures for a reason
You can always add some 6x6 columns to help support and shorten the spans. There is a lot of torque on the existing 6x columns and the footers.
hey Cock Wagon Deluxe… wth is a domestic AK? Wouldn’t that be a high dollar Russian one? I’d take the eastern euro ones all day over the Norinkos and Russian ones at the price difference
I’m a big fan of spans and cantilevered balconies and have designed and built a few houses with them… calculated correctly it’s never an issue
‘Murican made AK. I was still trying to narrow down my import decision at the time I bought this one at a great price, so I ain’t mad. It’s been great and gets used weekly. Also at the time it was my first Maryland illegal purchase since fleeing, so it just felt GOOOOD!! Ive narrowed it down to a zpap. Just waiting for it to come in at another shop close by.
didn’t know anyone in the Us was stamping them out… I’ve had my Norinko since before the Clinton ban and it’s my favorite by far… but I’d trade it for 5 Romanian ones since they think they’re worth it… 7.62 goes through 7 car doors grew up in a junkyard and had lots of target comparisons… 30/30 nearly the same…
Oh yeah. There’s an abandoned car in the woods at my new place and it’s been tested 303 brit does a good job too on cars. My first smle back when I was 16 and lived on a farm for a bit, same thing……..couple of old abandoned cars in that woods, and we’d set up top of the tobacco field behind the barn and play sniper with that old 303
I'm guessing whoever built that did not get a permit. Why the 16'span? Can you add an intermediate post to the LVL or the 2x12 your thinking of replacing it with? I would also look closely at how that all is connected to the house, that's a very common point of failure.
The house structure is fine, the gallery is a mess. Why there isn't post midway the span is a very good point, no rhyme or reason why there isn't. The connection to the house was another point that I had to fix with some steel cross-bracing attached to the house; the gallery was swaying as you walked on it... But my first target is to get that roof load path to the ground as short as possible.
Thats too bad. I hope you have more Good days in your future. Actual pic of Brit leaving for the range. Or possibly chicken & waffles.
A parallam beam is used as the main support inside the house. The gallery uses laminate veneer lumber. Steel is, for all sorts of reason particular to this situation, a whole lot easier. What I may do, the house was built only 7 years ago, is contact the trusses supplier and get them to provide info. ...I should have done that earlier aktuallly.
The range is merely stepping out my back door Kip looks like a draco shootah…….i aints got wanna demz. Actually pulled the 303 out after all this car-shooting’ talk. Had to run a box and watch the dollars fly away per pew. Haven’t run that one since summer of love when 303 jumped to nearly 3 bucks a pop
