2 years(2007-2008) BSB, finished 3rd in the championship in the last year. In WSB wildcard races he finished, 2nd, 4th, and 9th. 1 year(2009) WSS, won the championship 1 year (2010) WSB, finished 4th in championship 2011-2022 MotoGP.
Why is this relevant right now? He’s happy doing what he’s doing and won’t be riding full time without a very good payday. That scenario won’t happen any time soon with all the talent available
I'd have no problem with that.....hell, his helmet even sort of reminds me of a former Texan's who used to be in that very same seat.
I just think the current MotoGP machines are so much different ( Tires, frame-chassis, acceleration, carbon/carbon brakes) than even a full on factory superbike that its making that jump even harder. IMO I don't think Jake G could do any better lap times than TR. Rins did so well at a track that suits his eye because he has been on a V4 machine very similar (albeit a Suzuki) to what he is used to and he has many years on Michelin tires. Not to mention his tuner moved with him to LCR Honda.
i guess that toprak will stay in wsbk. the pipeline seems to be one way and he is starting on the wrong side. when is the last time a wsbk rider went to gp for a fulltime ride (not a wildcard)?
Bayliss and Edward's moved in 03. Then Nicky in 04...won 2006 championship over Rossi...maybe Eugene Lavarty moved over from wsbk to the Aspar Honda with Nicky in 15?
Besides Cal I can only remember Vermuelen - good, Toseland - sometimes pretty good until the forced retirement, Baz - not too bad, Hodgson - disaster (mostly the team), Laverty- not a total disaster but hard to compare
