I have a set of Two Brothers slip ons for my FJR that I'm wanting to sell. I've got some interest, but the latest quote I got from UPS was something like $110 or so. FedEx was a little better at $90. I thought I read about some alternatives, but I can't find the thread. If shipping is going to be that much, I'll just hold onto them and hope a semi-local buyer appears. Thanks guys! @madmaxdog46
Those guys are so focused on new retail they're pricing the little dudes right outta the market. I sold OEM fairings to a guy on here and I think it was 300 bucks to get them to Colorado in a television box. The union thugs at UPS have newish contract, so price will not be going down....no no.....it's gonna get worse.
Ive never used it but i think people used to talk about greyhound, forward air maybe did bulky stuff like that and also some fastenal stores can ship to other stores but i dont think they go nationwide...only regional or something like that.
I think that's the one I was hearing of. As long as they don't give it the "Ace Ventura" treatment, that might be the way to go.
https://www.easyship.com/discounted-rates https://www.pirateship.com/cheapest-way-to-ship/everything https://www.parcelmonkey.com/shipping-calculator I used Parcel Monkey to ship large items from PA to our house in FL. It was $100 cheaper to ship a guitar than going directly through UPS. Create an account, measure and weigh your item, print a label and drop it off at your nearest UPS center.
Also, make sure your box is less than 45" if possible. I've heard that is the magic number and rates go bonkers above that.
shipnerd.com is great if you need to ship to our poutine eating friends pirateship is great in the US
They've been a little meh for me lately with charging extra after the fact due to "weight discrepancies" when I know for a fact the weight was right on.
that's on UPS. They are ridiculous with some charges after the fact. Shipping a tire , I always expect extra charges, no matter if I use cardboard on the sides or send it as a single
I recently used Ship Station. It cost $27 to ship a set of forks halfway across the country. Ship Station is offered as a feature through Paypal; at least that is how I accessed it.
It's been about a decade, but I had a good experience with this ONCE. I received two racing car seats from across the country that cost less than $60 or something at the time. Only painful part of the process was I had to drive to a nearby city to get them at the bus station.
