I ran across this on one of my cycling sites and thought I’d share. Always exciting to see the close relationship between cycling and road racing. https://www.bikeradar.com/news/jonathan-rea-vitus-road-bike/
Very cool. Converted from MTB to road last year. Putting in consistent miles on the pedal bike has helped tremendously on the motorcycle. I like following a bunch of roadracing pros on Strava and seeing what type of rides these guys are putting in for training. It's impressive!
One thing I learned is my road endurance greatly improved my climbing ability, off the road. When those I rode with were walking long climbs, I was able to grind it out. Granted, my HR was ~190, but, it beats shamefully walking one’s MTB to the top.
walking burns more calories than biking. just a fact. haven't wanted a bike in decades. but rode bmx and freestyle bikes in my youth. plus those seats fucks your junk up.
Plus you don't want to look like a spandex fairy. (Fairy is a purely non sexual denigration of man who shaves his legs and wears tights. Equal opportunity hate.)
Kinda surprised it weighs nearly 17 pounds, given the spec. Especially in a 52 and a not-particularly-aero frame.
Jealous of you guys in the mountain areas. Off-road riding this year has sucked in Iowa. Too much damn rain. I've been out exactly one time this year.
Got a link? My experience doesn’t convey the same. Cool pic. Thumbs up! A lot of weight to be shed in the spec (aero wheels, 2X, etc). I suspect they weren’t chasing weight, but, more of just building a really nice piece.
