Knowing just how time slows down in these situations that dude met a chick, got her knocked up, got cheated on and paid 18 years of child support before that tank slapped ended. btw, it’s fine to make a new post. Reviving 20 year old posts with dead links. Had me going “wtf? These links scams of something?”
These young whippersnappers will never know the kind of fear that can only come from your first big slapper on a [probably borrowed] 90's supersport bike. You can't comprehend that anything can accelerate that fast in the first place, and then it just spontaneously tries to kill you. Oh, steering damper, you ask? Fuck outta here.
I "had" a beautiful onboard video of a mountain run back in 2009? My cbr 1k had the electronic steering damper (stock/don't work!) I swapped that bish out HARD! On a cold Dec. afternoon.A very close friend went into the side of the mtn.and almost died,so out of respect I deleted my old YouTube vids but it was a great watch! And i dubbed in the badge from Pantera! Wish I had saved a copy!
IMO... "Spoke wheel" motorcycles were prone to this kind of (mis)-behavior. H1,H2, KZ900, and anything that hadn't had some "tight and true" attention in a year, or two.. Lemon Grove Cycle Supply did a lot of work, for a lot of teams, racing in a lot of places, especially Baja. Harry (aka the Fat Man) at LGCS had a magic touch for things "spoked". RIP Fat Man
I had one at TGPR in 87’. Riding a FZ600 CCW right after exiting the circle. It was violent and shook so hard I literally couldn’t focus my eyes, till I was face down on the pavement sliding. Those old Fox leathers are single stitched btw, and don’t hold up well to those events. Fox gloves of old, even worse. LOL My Mike Baldwin Arai however, saved my face from disappearing. I added a steering dampener posthaste.
