In a few weeks, I may be traveling to a location north of me where Tuesday's low temp will be -3 degrees F. I'll be in my Camry that received a new battery a few months ago. I also have a Lithium jumper battery, also relatively new. I know five years ago in Ohio, under "warmer" conditions (but still in the teens), my then lead acid battery jumper was worthless. Luckily at the time, it was parked at a major airport where assistance was readily available. Will the Lithium jumper be able to perform if called into service under such extreme low temperature? TIA.
you may have to energize the lithium jump device so it can give you the boost needed...or keep it warm in 50 degrees or better.
Carry heavy duty 4 or 6 gauge traditional jumper cables no matter where you travel. Check your spare tire pressure when you store the cables in the same compartment.
So funny thing about lithium jump packs. They work like crap when cold but as you try to use them and they warm up from the load they get stronger and stronger. So while it’ll feel like it’s dead first time you go to use it as you keep trying it’ll get stronger and stronger.
It was replaced not too long ago, but still a good point. I have a Prestone coolant tester from years/decades ago. Will it suffice with the 2012 OEM spec Toyota coolant?
This. your lithium jump pack will do the job just fine. Project farm did a video a while back putting a bunch of them in a freezer at -40. they all worked, but the cheaper/smaller ones just needed to try a few times before they warmed themselves up and got the job done.
-3F? Wow, I'd maybe even put on pants. All that should work fine. Watch for your tires to go "low pressure" if you're sitting there long. bring a gauge.
Unless you’re going to the North Pole. It’s not a big deal. Check the cold cranking amps rating on your battery. You’ll be fine
Jesus, man. Do you think people in Northern Ontario, where it reaches -40 need booster pack when they have new batteries in their vehicle. Drive on.
Its been -2/3f here in the mornings the last few days here.I think the battery in my van is at least 5 or 6 years old and it starts fine.-3 isnt even that cold.
-3 isn't cold? F you guys. It's 59 in Florida today and my plans are ruined. Was going to wash the bike and do some yard work but anything below 60 and my ass isn't leaving the house
