I bought a set off of ebay as backups to my sharkskins but never had a chance to fit em up due to the untimely death of my k5. They delivered within 5 days via dhl, and upon opening the box, the thickness, weight, and flexibility was along the lines of godfather plastics. The cut/molds looked to be pretty clean but again, it's all worthless if they don't fit up right and that's a question I can't answer. Here's a pic right out the box... http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d147/vonstallin/k5/DSCN1519.jpg Hope this helps...
it does...i'm not familiar with godfather...are they good quality plastics...If they are half the price of sharkies, and can last at least 1/2 as long...that means its a good deal
Jeff, you have any sponsors? Talk to them as to what they can get you. I've looked at a set of Catalyst Composites and they're just SICK.
I have pit-tek on my bike. I had no problems with fitment. In fact IMO the fit was better than the hotbodies I had last year. However, the hotbodies were much more flexible. These things feel like they are very brittle. Just flexing them a little bit to fit the pieces onto the bike you can hear them cracking... I thankfully have not crash tested them but I highly doubt they will hold up to even the lightest contact with asphalt. For the price though it ain't a bad deal!
I got mine on ebay. They were shipped out of florida but I am not sure if you can contact them directly or if they just sell them on ebay. I paid $350 shipping included
$350 shipped on ebay or $400 buy it now (so don't bid against me cause i'm gonna get a set ) Looks to have quite a few sets
I bought a set for my ZX6R and the fitment is terrible. Tail was OK; upper was a multiple hour struggle; lower has been a nightmare. The retention dam hits the shock linkage dead on which prevents the lower from mating with the upper. I have to use ties to keep it together. The lower part of the upper by the radiator is curled in like they didn't allow the glass to harden while in any type of form. This section has to be bent and glass is ready to break; very brittle. I have tried to contact these crooks on ebay but they will not reply. I have asked for a refund or replacement, but they are the types that run and hide. I am going to do alot of cutting and grinding to attempt to get the lower to match up. I highly recommend paying more for a decent product. I can guarantee that this junk will shatter in any minor spill. Morris Foor
Sounds EXACTLY like my Godfather set. And they are both from FL? Hmm...supposedly gf has new molds/better resins/etc (but who's willing to give em a try?). Maybe these are old stock gf?
Don't do it. I made the mistake of getting crappy bodywork, and I won't repeat it. I promise you the few hundred bucks saved will be a distant memory as you struggle to figure out how the hell you're going to get the stuff fitted up.
I ordered a set of that crap for my sv1000. I never opened it and took it over to my painter. He called me that evening and said to come and pick it up. so bad, that he wouldn't even work on it. The stuff was very brittle. The primer wouldn't even stick to it. It just came off in big flakes. I sent it back after three weeks of emails. They did give me a refund after a while.
I was also wondering about the quality I just bought a brand new penske for my 750 and i'm sending the forks off next week to get the AK20's installed- I figured i'd spend a lot on suspension then gimp out on cheap bodywork $350 shipped-hell you can buy 2 sets and some clipons for the price of new sharkskins so far the consensus is 1/2 the ppl say quality is ok and you can make them fit-the other half says pure crap-spend extra $$ on sharkskinz hmm... decisions decisions
