I don't recall anyone wearing Doc Martens in 1968

Docs? cons? Rich kids :Poke: :D

I had the K-Mart and Bi-way specials. and yeah, was made fun of and beat up about it too. We weren't poor, poor, but we weren't "not" poor.

Back in my day, we called K Mart sneakers "Buddies," for some reason.

I just recall being able to use an ink pen on the bottom of them and darken the gaps.

Yeah, no clue what we had but it was whatever was cheap at KMart or the like. I remember the cool kids in the hood had name brand Keds :D

    Keds and PF Flyers here.

<edit> Then I grew up a bit and found Adidas Dragons. In between, Earth Shoes and Wolverines.

This lead to some cush high tops, started with a "B"?

    Ultimately, combat boots.

<more edit> Reeboks. I knew there was a B in there somewhere. They didn't last long. Toss in numerous Pumas, Nikes and a pair of LeCocque Sportifs.

The 60s are relatively clear...from the early 70s to mid 80s, not so much. :D

Chuck's were dirt cheap and you had instant street cred without the harassment. They were socially accepted from jocks to skaters and anyone in between.

I think at that point Chucks were an upgrade from Keds, I know we couldn't afford them.

That's why Black Sabbath sang "Fairies Wear Boots" in 1970, referring to Skinheads.

God! Those cheap knock offs bring back some High School trauma. You had to have the Asics,or the original Nike.My mom was a single mom,and I had every dog shit knock off known to man,not to mention the 2nd hand clothes my cousins handed down to me. My best friend debuted the first Vans.Every redneck in school spit Copenhagen on his Vans walking down the halls. No Izod gator shirt either,I had the girly Fox shirts if I was lucky.

My first and only pair was blue suede...in the days of white gym socks, they turned every single pair I had blue.

    Definitely true.

And here's Ozzy with the very baggie of stevia that inspired the song Sweet Leaf. They wrote the song in just a few minutes in that hotel room during their afternoon tea.

    True story.
