A man who EARNS his way into being an American garners much more respect with me than a CUNT (you) who is fortunate to be born into those advantages.

There is a fairly significant difference between expressing an opinion and simply bitching. In my opinion, you are bitching.

Calling in the currency has been tossed around a long time. The government could make it illegal to own/transact with the previous generation after a certain date. This would bring all currency into central coffers for accounting and re-issue. Of course cirminals would be screwed.... and the government could by some estimates reap a profit of 5%-7% as they would only re-issue the new currency dollar for dollar. Also, it would force those with stokpiles of "unclaimed cash" but not cash gotten by illegal activities to claim it and pay taxes on it.

It makes sense in many ways.

If this was the case, I would understand but it was not cited in the article as the reason.

I would see the need for the example you cited as well as if there is a counterfit issue.

In 1994, Castro was losing control to the Dollar in the Island as it had become the money of trade between the people due to the ability to buy otherwise unavailable products at Dollar only stores.

He instituted the Convertible Peso in attempt to garner "illegal" US dollars in the Island.

Can you ever see the same thing happening with the Euro? If the petrol Euro ever took off we'd be screwed!

I think the Euro itself already serves as a control measure. It was in part an attempt to reign in Companies that were excercising some movement within the Continent to bypass regulations/taxations.

Unless, I am mistaken, the US is the prmary Petro-currency in the World.

I remember from college having a discussion about the deficit and why the US would always show a deficit, as long as it remained strong. There will always be more dollars going out then coming in because the dollar is what other used to pay each other. It has been a while since I meddle in economics so things could have changed.

I am sure that the Euro would like to relace the dollar.

I think the US should always exercise some caution when it comes to foreign currency. China manipulates there. It would not be too unreasonable to consider what the Euro may do in order to become the top Currency.

Counterfitting US currency is a huge issue.

FWIW..Your Cuban example is not valid. It's not like you can walk into 95%+ of the countries on earth and whip out some Cuban Peso's and buy stuff.... people would look at you.. like WTF is that crap. Dollars... they spend nearly anywhere.

My reference was in response ot the comment about new currency to clean up, legitimze, clean up the old currency, get it off the street.

I don't see where I implied what you are highlighting as a flaw of my example.

I can see why we would do, welcome that as well as an attempt to address counterfit.

However, I say again, I don't see how printing a new currency will just help our economy or increase the value of it in the global market?

Calling in the currency would account for all USD in circulation. Some would never be turned in, that would decrease the "float" if you will. It would also force folks/business/syndicates to delclare cash andpay taxes on it or basically lose it as it became worthless. This would in theorey inclrease the value of the dollar but not by much I'm thinking so essentially you're correct I would think.

Again, there are benefits but we should consider the implementation cost.

We can definitely do more for the value of the dollar but not printing anymore!:D

I think that for counterfitting purposes we can just do a phase in like what we have done with the current currency.

I read the article and I think it is a joke to think that a change in the way the money looks is going to stimulate our country. This is the best response that I have found in reguards to this issue.
"i would put Obama and Bush's picture on food stamps, eviction notices, foreclosure papers & unemployment checks!
No to Global Government & Global Pay!! America FIIRST!!!"
